Not even in my wildest dreams....

Am I a happy bunny, or what? Wind the clock back to January 2013. I was 50, the best part of 18 stone and had never run a step. I had had a hip replacement 4 years previously and it suddenly dawned on me that I needed to sort myself out.

This morning I ran 28:57 for 5k and I'm 4 stone lighter. Sub 29 minutes for the first time and I am buzzing!

Sorry for the showing off, but for me this is really special and I couldn't have done it without the C25k programme to get me started. As Laura said, "You can do it".

Thank you for sharing this with us! I have a friend who envies the improvement in my physique but is adamant that she cannot run because of her knee replacements. I will show her this and see if it changes her mind.

You must be very proud of your achievement - very well done and HAPPY RUNNING!

Wow! Well done. I am a couple of years younger but was same weight around December 2013 when I started. I have lost around 10 pounds which is slow but steady. Can I ask what the timing was re your weight loss? As in, was it just steady or did it get better after c25k, or did you do anything else? I would love to get to 14 stone and do sub 30 mins!

Hello Tintin1.

I've been on Weightwatchers since January 2013. Weight loss was at a rate of about 2 pounds per week on average with the occasional bigger loss and definitely a bit of a gap (I.e. Gain) in Early August while on holiday and again in December. Started c25k in late June, did w9r3 and my first 5k on August 29th (I'll never forget that run - over 36 minutes!). and have been running 3 times per week ever since. I did an 11k last week! Not very quickly though....

A decent diet (with a small 'd') and the running go hand in had and are complementary in my short experience. Happy to say that the two together have changed my life. No kidding.

You have every right to shout about your achievements and it serves as positive encouragement to others who might be considering but putting off taking positive action themselves.

Well done x
