Well done on starting C25K and on your weight loss plan!Obviously as there’s a cost involved, whether or not to buy a Fitbit has to be your choice. When I started the plan, I downloaded the free Strava app to my phone which gave me the information I needed, eg time, distance, a map of where I ran etc which was more than adequate. I only decided on a Garmin when I knew I was going to carry on running and wanted a bit more than the free Strava offered. Hope that helps! Good luck!

Starva is now £48..after a 1month trial ...I’ll loom for other apps before I decide!!

Really? I know there is a version you pay for but the basic package is a free one I’m sure; I’ve just googled it to be sure. But other people use other apps, eg RunKeeper or MapMyRun so there’s plenty of choice out there! Hope you find something to suit!

The basic strava is definitely free, and very useful. 👍

I wear a Fitbit, I don’t really find it any particular benefit for my runs, I use Strava like OldGirlRuns, but it may help you keep up your activity on non running days as it will let you know how many steps you take per day - general recommendation says 10,000 and I’ve been finding I’m doing far fewer than that since lockdown so am now making conscious effort to move around the house more to increase my activity

I’d hold off until after you can run comfortably for 30 minutes. Who knows, by then you may prefer to buy a running watch (Garmin ForeRunner 235 for example)??? During C25K only time is relevant (not steps, pace, speed, distance).

A FitBit might help you count steps, and make you more active. Personally though I’d spend the money on decent running shoes if you haven’t got these already.

Yes. Doesn’t have to be a Fitbit. I bought a health watch. Pulse steps and more importantly blood pressure. So you can take care when running

I have a Fitbit and wear it regularly. It's ok, but not the most accurate. I use it more for my heart rate, never for mapping runs. Mine shows up trends; if I've been doing a lot of exercise and not had a drink in a week, I can see it in the dip in my resting heart rate. I'm not convinced by the actual numbers though.

I have a Fitbit and am a member of WW also and you can link the two apps so that your activity from Fitbit can be converted into WW points which you can enjoy when your weeklies run out😊

I also use Strava - the free version - and like that for tracking my progress with runs in terms of distance and speed etc
