Insomnia last night. Befuddled and undecided between going back to bed, eating breakfast, or dressing for wk1r1.

Finally decided on toast and coffee. Read some posts here while eating. Decided i will dress and go out. Have only just realized my workout clothes, from my days inside a gym, are probably not the best option. Gonna do this, and then rest day tomorrow is shopping day. Do they sell proper running gear sized for not slim women?

Sports direct do some up to size 18, have a google around, I suppose it depends on exactly what you want and how big your budget is, but good luck anyway, on both finding the right clothes and starting the plan!

Ok, got dressed, still felt crap, but did the podcast indoors. My cats thought i was crazy, walking and jogging back and forth the length of the flat. Halfway through, one decided that she MUST move from the warm spot on the radiator to the exact middle of my path.

Still, i count this as not letting myself down. I said i would start today, and I DID!

My cats sit on the windowsill and laugh when they see me running down the street :)

Seriously, what you wear depends how warm a body you are - I'm a warm blooded person so the moment it gets above 7 degrees I'm wearing 3/4 leggings and over 15 and I'm in shorts. Most of the year I wear short sleeves, with a long sleeve technical for colder days. My wind proof jacket can be worn any time up to about 12 degrees in standing air, then I have a wind proof gillet. Only thing I'm fussy about is hats - beanie for winter and peak cap for summer.

I feel the cold. I did find running tights, and did NOT need the largest size! :) , because all i had were cotton yoga pants and sweat pants. If those get even slightly damp i will be miserable. And this is the UK, damp happens. (I was in California, where water doesnt just fall from the skies like magic.)

Could not find a woman's jacket to fit my shoulders, tried on men's and, well, i will just wear my husband's rather than buy another that same size.

Have a hat and glove supply.

I've seen people say that Sainsburys are good for larger running gear. Well done for making a start - you need to get into the gym or the outside world to get the full benefit of the programme. Good luck.

The only Sainsburys i have access too are the small city sized ones. But next time i am near the large one, i will take a look.

I started C25K wearing ordinary clothes. I still don't wear 'running clothes' - I wear Sainsbury's cotton leggings and long sleeved t shirts (and those you can buy up to size 22 at least). I do have running underpinnings though - sports bra and firm control knickers. I found I really disliked the sensation of 'technical' fabrics, made me feel sweaty and ugly.

I'm sure your workout clothes are fine (perhaps sleeveless is a bit chilly right now if that's what you've got) If new kit will motivate you then that's great, use that, but it isn't essential.

Maybe in summer. But it is too rainy and cold to wear cotton just now.

I find synthetics colder - and don't forget that you are not standing around in this stuff and will be working up a sweat. It seems to be more common problem for C25Kers getting too warm than too cold - once you actually get out there. Provided you have gloves!

Congratulations on starting the programme. At this time of year I wear a tracksuit and put waterproof gear on over it if raining. I've got leggings and T-shirts for milder weather. I've done very well without running gear up to now (except for proper running shoes after having gait analysis) but a couple of days ago my Tesco vouchers arrived. We have a Tesco clothing outlet as an adjunct to the main store where all clothing is half price or less. I got a new track suit and also found some proper Lycra running gear - a top and just below knee trousers. I am saving them for the milder weather. I am a size 18-20 so there is stuff out there. Might just be worth trying the big supermarkets as they are a lot cheaper than specialist shops. Best of luck with the rest of the programme. Best wishes.

Ha! ha! ha! Brilliant Nilzed. You sound normal! It does take courage to get out there first time but once you do, it all clicks in to place and you kinda want to get back out there after a days rest (honest!)

I know what you mean about what to wear. I go out in jogging pants (from Sports Direct and Tescos and Sainsburys) and my partner's old t-shirts!! Oh, and a good sports bar - that's a must!! Get yourself some good trainers for the terrain you'll be running in pavements or grass..... In winter I wear a longer t-shirt underneath and a hat.

Hope helps and most of all - get out there and let us know how you get on!!
