Got out at last!

Managed to muster up the energy to go out for a run this morning. Have been severely curtailed these last 17 days with stomach bug and cold - although i did manage one run on the one day I had between the two :)

Spurred on by legion and realfoodieclub to have a go and also not push myself too far, I went out with the intention if doing 20 minutes. Ended up going for 27 and doing 2.5 miles. Then stopped! I am chuffed on several levels:

1) I got out

2) I ran for 27 minutes

3) I stopped when I did.

4) I remembered to take some tissues

Hopefully that's me back on track and will be heading out again on Saturday. Thanks to everyone for your kindness and encouragement.

Thanks, it was a good run. Being ill, albeit with minor ailments, Makes me so grateful for my usual good health. I can't imagine what it must be like to have a chronic illness.

Really pleased the trainers are back on! And I am pleased that you beat the challenge you set yourself - that will really boost your confidence. I have my first cold for ages and am going to have a potter later just because I need to get OUT! Think the running has kept me well as I usually get all the viruses! I will remember the tissues....

Thanks Deb54. It was so frustrating and I really felt sorry for myself! I have noticed this last couple of years I have got a 'lurgy' around this time and it's lasted for a week or two. Before that I didn't have so much as a sniffle for 6 years... maybe next year I will be back to 'normal'.

Hope you get over the cold quickly - and do take PLENTY tissues, I find running seems to clear the tubes anyway and with a cold it's not a pretty sight :)

Hey at least your out there and 27mins is better than sitting on the couch.

Think most people are not running as much just now mainly because of the weather and busy Christmas commitments.

I am going to try and do a run tomorrow but if its heavy rain then -----No chance.

Thanks, and yes it is better than sitting on the couch. Went out again this morning and managed 32 minutes so definitely getting there. Horrible day here though, sleeting and raining now so if it was now I had planned to go out - I wouldn't. No point if you end up soaking wet and cold. Fingers crossed for a fine day for you tomorrow.
