Has anybody ran beyond C25K and would be interested C210k?
We have a few running to 10k on the quest feature that has just started
healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
Here is the link. The main quest will start on 6th jan, there is an interim one going now. But if you read the last six quest posts you will see so many are doing really well and setting goals.
I am, and so are most graduates I think! After graduating in the spring I did a 5 mile race last summer so did some B210K training in preparation for that, and since have varied my runs and distances with the furthest I have run being 11.5km. I hope this year to possibly get to do a hm... not bad for a 50 year old who is still 2 stone overweight, but 3 stone 9lbs less than when I started!
I've carried on with the Laura podcasts C25k+ podcasts. There are three of them. I've done them several times each and am now on to Sam Murphy's Bridge 5-10 k podcasts, which again are free. Start Week 3 tomorrow
Wow.. thats some achievement to have lost 3 stone 9lbs and still aiming to loose another 2 stone. Since I began the C25K late July 2013 and presently now I have lost 3 stone plus in weight and Ive continued and motivated myself to run further like yourself. My recent run was 13.89km and I could have ran further, if I had known how close I was to 14K. Initially I was trying to go beyond 12km. When ever I run I normally set my Nike App double the distance I actually wish to achieve. So that when I hear the voice guide telling you 'your half way point' .. I just know Ive pushed myself further.. Its more psychological for me which really pushes me further to run. And then I see the glory afterwards checking my recording on the computer.
Getalife, many of us who have completed the C25K plan have gone on to run longer distances. I know a lot of my cohorts who started and finished last year are regularly running 10K races, Half-Marathons and some are training for marathons.
I. like many others, used written 10K training plans from any of the many running sites on the 'net. Others have used 10K running podcasts or apps - again from running websites.
We tend not to post on this HU C25K site too often, leaving it as a support place for newbies working through the plan, but when we do, the posts will be found by browsing the 'Graduates 5K+' category.
I ran my furthest run to date this evening. 7.57 km. I joined a local running group. I was fine and not out of puff at all, which I don't think is bad for a recent Couch graduate, aged 56. I had a smile a mile wide when I'd done
Hi swanscot, thanks for your info. I have managed to run 10.53 kms the other day and it was just by chance and feeling good at the time. I had a few attempts and then had a nice few days rest and surprised myself. Ive just been monitoring my efforts with the Nike app on my nano iPod which is fantastic as you can see your ongoing progress. Thanks again and I will look at the programme you have mention.
Thanks swanscot Sorry I haven't checked your reply, even though it was 6months. I feel ashamed not to have replied. I have managed to achieve my 10k goal and beyond. I have had lots of encouragement to run for local charities 5k and 10k. My next aim is to hopefully double this distance to feel confident to run a half marathon. but that will be a fair while. The furthest run I have achieved recently was 13.89km, so I'm hedging forward. Thanks again for your support
Me
I started C25k in feb and I then went in to do 10k using Audiofuel then onto my first half marathon in October, another next march then I aim for a marathon in 2015.... So yes lots of us are keeping going after the programme!!!!
Me! I definitely need to push myself now x
My maximum is a half marathon and I'm planning to do a full marathon in April 2014 in Manchester.
Definitely! Parkruns are a good way of pushing yourself further (5k races) but try a B210k for a programme to get you to 10k. Plans are available all over the net but I use Runners World Smartcoach to plan my schedule. 10k last June, Half marathon in October and another in April. It is just brilliant. Good luck.
