I shouldn't have looked ahead!! I finished week 4 yesterday and was really chuffed because although it was tough, I've not yet had to resort to walking in the running segments. I had a lovely glass of chilled wine and thought I'd have a little peak into next week's runs and feel a sense of dread. 20 minutes running - Oh no! Is this achievable?
I'm dreading week five!!: I shouldn't have... - Couch to 5K
I'm dreading week five!!
Don't stress you have done the ground work. You can do it. Just take it slow and steady and keep in mind it's about running for that length of time not what distance or speed you can do. You are conditioning your muscles at the moment. Good luck and remember happy running.
The answer is YES!! Trust the programme, it's building up your stamina. The worst thing that can happen is that you don't keep going for the whole 20 minutes, but then all you have to do is have another go at the week. It's not "failing", it's "repeating", and extending how long you take to complete the programme. But be positive. It IS possible, and many people on this forum succeeded when they'd had just the same doubts as you.
I can't offer any additional comments above the sage advice above, however I felt the same before week 5 but was surprised that I could do it. Trust the program and keep it slow and steady!
Yes same as above , slow& steady & you will do it !
Trust Laura to get you round. She never fails. Good luck and go for it!
All those people with graduate after their names will tell you, YES. Take note of the above, get ready to be smug and pink in just a few runs time. Good luck.
Never thought that I would be able to do it but surprised myself yesterday and I haven't stopped grinning since. On to week 6 tomorrow- I'm not going to doubt again.
I think everyone doing this programme has had that sinking feeling when they see Week 5 Run 3!
But trust the programme and trust yourself!
Agree with all above Slow and steady and you will get there The programme works just do what Laura says and you will do it Good luck
Another one here who thought "how on earth is that going to happen"...and then did it. Trust the programme...and you have two more prepping runs to do first.
Yes it absolutely is - the talk track is really good at keeping you going. The hardest part was the 10 to 15 minute time - once you get to the 15 minutes its the adrenalin that keeps you going and the desire to keep going.
