Week five done!

Can't believe I managed to run ( slow jog) for twenty minutes today! I really doubted myself like I have before every new run but really thought this would be the time that I would not be able to do it! It was raining very heavily and I was figuring out what to wear and if it would affect my running. I opted for a hoody and a very thin waterproof jacket. Luckily it was only very light when I was out there. I felt a bit down as I didn't get into a good rhythm like I had before and found it very difficult but I did it when I really thought I wouldn't!! Looking forward to the shorter runs of W6R1 to build my pace up again! Thanks for the ongoing posts on here, they really do help and makes me feel like I'm not the only one in the world doing this!

Well done! It’s a brilliant feeling isn’t it?! I’ll be doing week 6 at the same time as you - onwards & upwards (metaphorically....I’m committed to running on the flat so far 😂) for us!

I am starting week 6 tomorrow and like you couldn't believe I had done 20 minutes! I am still aching but hopefully it will go well tomorrow although most people say week 6 is the hardest!

Good luck with your future runs

Great run. Don’t go for pace on W6R1 though, that’s what it wants you to do... slow and steady is the way to take it out. Relax and enjoy it. Week 7 is the time to work on pace, if at all.

Good luck for the weekend! Hopefully the weather won't be as scary. It's a massive milestone I still can't believe it

Well done. I always used to doubt myself too. Every time!!! But I am now about to start Week 9 and am really looking forward to it. Over the weeks I have become much more confident and am really enjoying the challenge. I think my weight loss whilst on the program has really spurred me on too. Instead of attempting runs with a “cant do” attitude, I now approach them with a “can do attitude” and it really works.

Keep up the good work x

Thank you! That's great how far you've come and become more confident! I definitely need to adjust my diet before weight loss comes into it.

I have just completed my R2 wk8. I find i am a very slow pace but i feel the 30 mins will not be a problem now...and i put it all down to that first 20 minute run. I believe the real milestone for me was that very first 20 min run which seemed so impossible and out of place at the time. How did it jump up to 20 minutes and how on earth am i going to achieve that? i kept saying. I very nearly talked myself out of it and repeat the previous run. Well, i remember the feeling when i decided last minute to go for it, achieved it, and now i feel i am a runner. Just like Laura said :) I also now will concentrate on my diet as i approach graduation. I feel so much fitter than i did just a few weeks ago.
