I've had flu and been bedridden for a week.Burst a blood vessel in my eye with coughing and the doc said bp soared to 200.

The doc scared me to death. Not a good idea to test bp after drinking 2cups of coffee and taking sudafed.Felt more sick after seeing her than before.Bp is pretty much back to normal, but I have lost my interest in running.Been to the gym and run for 15mins, but felt rubbish.Anybody offer advice, and inspiration.

Sorry to hear this, I do hope you feel better very soon. I think your body is just recovering. To get to a gym and do 15 mins is impressive considering. Listen to your body and allow time to get your strength back and you will be back at it in no time! Sounds like you havent been well at all so you may want to ease in and do what feels comfortable the first few runs! Dont be too hard on yourself, the fact you are posting on here shows your commitment. Wishing you all the best and get well soon :)

Don't push yourself too hard, would be my advice. If running is making you feel rubbish, then, as nextjenn says, listen to your body and take it easy. I am sure that you will be able to ease your way back in time. I'm not running this weekend because of a feverish cold, so you're not the only one having a rest. Hope you get well soon.

Sometimes you just have to ease up and this sounds like the time. Give your body time to recover & it will serve you better in the long run-no pun intended. Hope you're feeling better soon. Flu is really grotty.

I've been off running since 19 th of November with a cold that developed into a chest infection.

Have decided to do :

One run from week two

One run from week three

One run from week four

Do week five

Do week seven

Do week nine.

Back to full strength in four weeks!

Just can't wait till I don't feel like €!%# anymore and can get on with it! X

Blinking flu. I not run since mid october due to a family member becoming seriously ill then I got the cold/flu/chest infection and coughed so much my back went into a spasm causing sciatica. I was just one run away from completion ta boot.

Thanks gypsydepp your plan sounds just like what I was looking for..... I went for a walk yesterday (first bit of exercise in weeks) in the lovely autumn sun.... getting that fresh air, being out in nature again really clarifed to me that I need(did I say need) to start running again but was wondering about how and where to start. Anyhows that seems sorted now and what better time to begin than at beginning of a new month... white rabbits to all....
