Sorry that you had an argument...but I do find that going for a run really does relieve stress from situations like that, I know it definitely helps me! My uncle and Aunty had an massive argument a few weeks into their marriage because my Uncle had lost the legal marriage documents and my Aunty was so mad she went for a run and it was on her run that she found the marriage documents blowing down the road! So if in doubt, always go for a run! Hope your day get better :-)

We all have arguments now and again , don't worry. I hope your run really helped . Now please have a few rest days as if I'm correct you've now ran 3 days in a row. We don't want you to undo all that hard work and give yourself an injury . Good luck 😊😊

My bad...actually 4 days:

17/11/2019 Week 6

18/11/2019 Week 6.2

19/11/2019 Week 6.3

20/11/2019 Week 7

Really quite adictive this "running" lark!

Well if you want to reach the end safely you'll really need to be careful especially now you're on the longer runs. Your chances of injury through overuse (I've been there, really not nice) and muscle or ligament issues is massively increased with every missed rest day. 👎🏼

Understandable as it’s a great stress reliever. However you don’t want to end up like me, injured, so get some rest 👍😁

It's not just that...I mean I've always hated exercise! However now I'm sitting here keen as mustard to go on another run!

Go for a walk instead, or get a jump rope 👍🏻

It is a great stress buster but you will kick yourself if you end up on the Injury Couch. Hope you and your daughter are friends again!

You naughty sausage! Too many runs in a row gives your body no time to recover, but there are other exercises you can do instead and that might help keep the grr away after an argument, cycling might be a good one to try as you are still travelling and might give you a similar feeling? Just a thought.

I hope you patch it up with your daughter. 🤞👍🙂

Enxo , I think you know it’s not a great idea but you’ve felt you needed it. Is there anything else you could do on rest days - weightlifting, Biking, Hiking? You’re not supposed to do nothing so maybe you could try one of those? I don’t know 🤔

Enxo profile image
EnxoGraduate in reply toJacca

I’ve hurt my shoulder so can’t lift weights and sitting on a bike is boring - maybe I’ll go swimming or something.,,thanks.

I know it’s frustrating to wait esp when you need an escape that’s when ossie (my avatar) helps when I’ve got the arse on he gets extra walks 😆 he’s not much good when I’m trying to do planks though he keeps trying to shove his bum in my face😂

It’s just that i need to run for 55 minutes at my current pace to reach 5k.

Jacca profile image
JaccaGraduate in reply toEnxo

So are you trying to do 5k in 30 mins ? I’ve read - I stalked a while before posing on here - that only a small percentage actually do it and it’s usually just over 4k that most do manage. I will probably be no where near 5k come the end, but that’s when I will work on my speed. From what I gather that’s what most do and park runs.

Enxo profile image
EnxoGraduate in reply toJacca

No, I aim to do 5k at my usual pace 11mins per km. once I can do that I’ll might try and pick up the pace.

So you’re just totally addicted to running? Cause I gotta tell you I get that, I’m itching to do my runs and hate rest days. Sorry didn’t know about the shoulder Issue otherwise wouldn’t have suggested weights. I don’t see anything wrong with what you’re aiming for but what’s the rush ? Four days in a row? 😱 I don’t know how you’ve done that. Be careful if you get injured your gonna be like a bear with a sore head!!

After a run I’m buzzing, next day though I’m cooling down. I’m running for 25 mins fairly easily and don’t see any problem moving up to 30, but I will stick to the plan. My goal is to run for an hour. If I can then do that 3 times a week that would be fantastic.

I lost 4kgs in the first month but seem to have plateaued so let’s see how the longer runs effect me.

Well done for the weight loss that’s pretty amazing 😉 - just do what’s comfortable for you. Listen to your body and take rest days it will help your muscles allowing them to repair and get stronger you probably know this - so I’ll 🤐

Well I just ran 4 days in a row so I’m obviously not listening! However I promise not to run tomorrow 😀

We have a marathon runner on this forum who runs every day. My marathon preps included up to 5 runs per week and three back to back runs. The one in the middle was as long as 18k. That's fine cos otherwise you wouldn't be able to go for 42k in one stretch.

A few years back l posted here explaining how you can get badly hurt without even trying. I wrote about my left knee that ballooned overnight, the out of balance hips that then nearly ruined my right ankle and nearly 5 months of pain and cost (physio and osteopath) in order to be able to walk properly, let alone run. They fixed it, l repeated the whole program that I'd already graduated in and started from scratch. I'm a slim bloke, a sports lover, especially when it comes to running and basketball.

So what did an idiot do to get hurt like that? I ran consecutive days as a novice in my fifties. Felt alright until it didn't feel alright anymore. Remember, you won't get hurt on the day. You'll wake up injured. Life's too short for that stuff.

Sometimes you just have to run to clear your head

Well done for getting out there

Oh how that sounds familiar. I do that when I argue with my son!! Now I'm injured I've taken to storming off. Not the same.

The running helped me to calm down. Hope it did the same for you 😊
