Cant believe it, last gym trip before holiday, should be celebrating graduation but can't, after 15 min had to quickly stop to sort laces. Made it to the 30 minutes, So annoyed, never had lace / trainers issues before.
W9R3 foiled by laces :-(: Cant believe it, last... - Couch to 5K
W9R3 foiled by laces :-(
I would still consider it a successful run. A quick stop for laces doesnt mean you stopped or chose to quit. You carried on where you left off.
I have had the odd few second stops during my runs. Usually to cough and splutter on an inhaled fly. Then I carry on and to not feel like I cheated, I add a few more seconds of running on after Laura tells me to walk.
If I was you, I'd be celebrating and awaiting that graduate badge! Well done!
Thank you, trying to work out if I can sneak in another try before holiday. It's a sign how well this plan works that after nine weeks I'm annoyed about just missing the 30 mins when I started of not managing 60 seconds! At least now I get a little longer to think what lovely thing I'm going to treat myself to when I do get it right
I was held up on my first week 9 run this evening. First by a goods train where I cross the railway line, and then by the pig farmer driving down a narrow track. I was keen to do it proper so jogged on the spot while waiting for both.
I'd agree you can still celebrate. If you are running near main roads you can stop that long for a green man at a crossing.
On the subject of laces, I always tuck the loops under the crossovers to stop them flopping about. however, on the basis that you can find the answer to just baout anything on the web, here is a site with different ways to tie your trainer laces - katierunsthis.com/2011/10/0...
Oh I stay in the safe comfortable gym, may set a goal of local park run eventually but not for a while yet! Thanks for the lace advice, I'll have to do something as I'll be distracted now checking them all the time.
I'm the same as you.I graduated on the treadmill, and whilst most people hate them I haven't suffered any injury and I believe softer on the joints for oldies.my doc agreed with this?I will go out later in the year but I will get my confidence up first.I think you have done great to get this far and I believe you have graduated even though you had to stop to tie laces.Apply for you're badge x
I had a blip with my knee in week 8 but that's prob done to my weight and delayed shock that I was exercising. I read a post about putting a slight incline on to help the adjustment of moving outside so I might try this. Like you though I feel much better inside, a park run can be next years goal. The one near me is a hilly route so need to get a lot better before I tackle that. No where near 5 km still.
Don't worry about distance.I only run at the pace of a fast walk so I'm well off target.I tried running at 8km the other day for 2mins and wonder how some on the forum manage that throughout their runs x
I'd totally recommend running in your local park, even if it's not a 'park run' event At first I was really worried about running in front of the public but there's a really nice community of regular dog walkers, fellow runners and even people embracing boot-camp regimes whose smiles...or fellow exercising grimaces....keep you going! Brave the park and enjoy!
Thats a good idea, I'm not sure if I'll ever venture outside takes all my concentration to not trip myself up, don't think I could cope with flys, trains and farmers and all that mind saying that, it's probably just pot holes, dodgy paths and dog muck I'd have to worry about!
Well done Clumsy you completed the run in my eyes. Go and enjoy your hol and celebrate.
Thanks Marcosan
You definitely completed the run. Sometimes these things happen, it's what you choose to do after that's important. You chose to carry on and complete the run. Well done. Get you badge
Thanks Tready, holding off on the badge. I've worked out if I forgo my usual pre holiday house clean I can fit in another try. I'll need it to destress after packing. all being well shinny badge will be mine by tomorrow night.
I love that! I too can easily put off doing the housework. After all - this programme is for you and your better health! Go and get your badge - CONGRATULATIONS!
Locking elastic laces are brilliant. It is a sign of how much I'd improved that being rid of a sneaky excuse for a pause was good!
