Week 9 Run 3 - Nailed !

I have graduated ! I really cant believe it especially as I struggled most of the way. Time was faster and managed to get to 4.4km. Any advice going forward as everything has been about getting to this point and I want a new goal. Any ideas of where to go next?

Well done and congratulations. Only o.5k off 30mins - so really well done. Most of us cant do the time initially at 30 mins - I still have not managed it!! Lots of us use the stepping stone and interval podcasts to move on - these help improve stamina and speed.

Hi Suzybenj - Thank you! I will have a look at that as haven't investigated life after couch to 5k on the website :-)

Hi EMG1. Not many of us manage 5k on graduating. I know I still have a long way to go to achieve it! Take a look at Stamina and Stepping Stones. I have started Stamina and I am slowly improving my times. My run is 5.87km and today I managed it in 64 minutes - so still a LONG way to go.

The running does make me feel a lot more 'sparky' though so it's simply a matter of chipping away at the time now.

I found I felt a bit lost after graduating, what do I do next feelings. I think it is important to work out a plan, even if it's only repeating week 9 for a while.

HAPPY RUNNING and CONGRATULATIONS!

Thanks Beek ! Its such a wonderful feeling ! A plan is deffo what I need. I will do as suggested and repeat week 9 again because it was hard so I want to be confident running it. It was my birthday yesterday and I was lucky enough to get a Garmin so need to make sure I keep it up!

Well done. Graduating feels so good. I was a bit lost after graduating but ran tonight for pleasure - who would have thought I would ever do that - and am gradually increasing my time and therefore the distance. I also follow advice seen on here - during a run set a goal to run a bit faster to. Tonight I chose various lamp posts and sped up towards them. I think that I am a bit better at running faster more often now.

Well done on graduating and enjoy the moment :)

Running week 9 again is a good way of consolidating what you have achieved so far and who knows, you may make that 5k too ! The C25K+ podcasts are good (I still use Speed and Stamina) so give them a go.

Having a goal will help though so perhaps work your way towards 10k if that's what you'd like to do.

Good luck anyway and congratulations !

I have just found the RunKeeper app. You can set goals, it tells you how you're doing as you run and it records your route, time and pace etc. bonus: you can have your own music running in the background. Big congratulations to you - very well done. Next week I start Wk 8. I am loving running now, amazing!
