Can't believe it! One week! It seemed to go quite fast today. Although lesson learnt big time; eat something before going out! Felt so nauseated at the end it was horrible! Bring on week 2 (she says nervously)

Look forward to seeing how you found it. I was surprised how quickly time went today.

A banana is an excellent food item for runners and don't forget the water. If you run after a full meal it is worth waiting a couple of hours to let it settle.

Don't be nervous, you can do this. Congratulations on completing the week.

Brilliant well done us. I've just done week 1 and am surprised that I managed it! I went to get new running shoes yesterday so no excuses. Today during my W1R3 my trousers kept slipping down - not optimum but it made me smile and took my mind of the breathlessness - so maybe a blessing in disguise.

Quick question I normally walk about 4-5miles a day can I still do this on rest days without it mucking any progress up?

Walking should be ok, but swimming or cycling might be better. Your rest day should avoid the impact of running to allow the microtears in your muscles to repair (sounds more dramatic than it is) and avoid injury. I am no expert, just some geezer who started running three months ago, but I would also advocate stretching after every run (NHS Choices pages), again to avoid injury, by realigning muscles and save you from suffering terrible muscle aches.

Welcome to all of you and congratulations on making the decision to give this a go. It really does work, but do it in your own time and repeat runs if you need to. Good luck all and keep us posted.

Wow - week 1 done...yeah I found early morning runs hard if I hadn't eaten...a banana or cereal bar worked for me and lots of water. Although when I had nothing else I did resort to a caprisun just for a boost :-)
