Anyone ells on week one. Thought it might be good to be each others accountability partners and check in after each run?

Due to do week 1 run 3 this Saturday.

Yes just done w1r2, due to do r3 on Saturday. Somehow today seemed harder than r1 on Monday, but at least I did it! Think I’m running too fast, but not quite sure how to slow down. How are you finding it?

Well done for doing the 2nd run. My chest was really sore after the first run. Better after the second , but i found the second one mentally hard - does that make sence? I am not looking forward to the 3rd run Saturday but will go. I read on some of the other threads that it get easier. Lets hope right? 😊

It definitely does get easier. Your body gets stronger with each run. Your head however has difficulty believing that you can improve reasonably quickly, and tries to stop you, as you found. The trick is to keep saying “I CAN do this next run!” And believe it. We cuddly folk have resisted exercise. It is not natural to us. The brain says “no you can’t do that.

Believe a fellow chunky, but less chunky now! chap. This program really works. It just needs you to work too. March 101Kg. Now 95! But! Belt tightened a lot! Tum tauter. Sleeping better, eating better (more carefully) too as it seems more worthwhile now.

I never ran for fifty years. Now I run 3k 3 times a week for fun.

Fat becomes denser muscle, so scales show no difference perhaps. Take a “before” pic? Measure biceps, thighs, calves and t’other bits for later reference. Not just weight.

Say to yourself——

Can I run that bit further?

OF COURSE I CAN!!!!

and you will!

You are such an encouragement. Thank you! And well done on your progress.

Well done on starting your journey! As for running too fast, look up the Japanese Running technique - it’s more of a sort of shuffle, if I feel my legs are getting tired (especially where I live with hilly inclines) I try n follow the principle - hope it helps 🤗 x

Hi. you might like to look on YT. Search - Japanese Slow Running Man- Professor Tanaka will show you speed, breathing, foot and body position. Enjoy your running.

Going to run week 1 run 3 tomorrow! X

I did run 3 of week 1 yesterday and it was somehow my hardest so far! I wasn’t aching or sore from the previous two, but mentally I struggled to keep running for 60 seconds each time on run 3. Therefore I’m wondering whether to repeat week 1 or step up to week 2- I don’t want to push too far and then give up, but equally don’t want to get bored either! Well done us for making a start!

Run 3 done! Feels good to have completed the first week :) Not sure how I’ll feel as it increases in intensity though!

Only thing I struggled with was I kept getting a stitch, don’t know if that’s something that will go as I get more used to running?

Well done !! Yip I too just completed w1 run 3. Super stoked. I have to say i struggle to get the breathing right. I get very breathless after the 60 second run, and just about catch it before the next 60 seconds start. Not sure how next week will go.

Sorry to hear about your stitch. Did some googling for you.

" The theory of poor blood circulation and decreased oxygen supply to the diaphragm makes a lot of sense. … plays a crucial role in breathing. ... Also, nervousness, improper breathing, posture problems, starting off too quickly, weak abdominal muscles, a full stomach, or the wrong running style can provoke a side stitch."

Not sure if it helpfull.

Doing w2 r1 on monday. Fingers crossed :)

Try slowing down to see if the breathing gets better. Apparently if you can’t hold a conversation whilst you’re running you’re running too fast. Well done on surviving week 1!

Week2 run 1 - smashed!! Whoop whoop 😁 really did not feel like running this morning. But proud to say i lifted my lazy butt and went. I was not sure i would be able to do 90 sec running but was over the moon with 2min walking - which seemed just enough time to catch my breath.

Still have to work on my breathing technique as i get winded so quickly.

W2R1 done :) Could definitely feel the increase in running time, but quite enjoyed getting into a rhythm a bit more on the slightly longer run. Felt the 2 minute recovery time was more than enough so feeling good! Hubby came with me today too which was nice :) Oh, and really tried to focus on my breathing etc, and didn’t get a stitch at all, so I’m happy

Just done W2R2. Every time I’m due to go running I don’t really want to go, but once I’m out there i really enjoy it. I also love the feeling once you’ve completed a run!

How is everyone else doing?
