David Bowies words from Velvet Goldmine sum up yesterday's run for me...

I set out for my first proper run at my 'other' home in Devon since graduating... And it was raining

I had my black gear on and a head torch....

On the road and a few cars passed.... The light soon went and then it started absolutely tipping it down... All I could see through the torch was lines of slippery crystals... My whole body was wet, I was aware the road was a river...

I wasn't going to give up, I was aiming for a 5k and that's what this panther was going to do.. Rain or floods I was going to get there....

On the way back under the trees, I just felt my body running with power and I felt naked and free as my skimpy running gear was soaked through. I really did find my She panther, I felt powerful and free... I raised my arms in the air, danced in the puddles and yelled..... Totally carnal...

The cars stopped before they passed me slowly..... Not quite sure what it was they were passing as there was just a light moving around in the rain.

I completed the run and felt totally energised and free... And so very blessed to have this freedom and ability to run free like a wild panther... ... I forget sometimes how very privileged I am to have running.....

Happy panthering everyone

What a great run and fantastic reminder that we should not be "fair weather" runners. Thank you for such a cheerful wake up.

So, still enjoying the running then... :)

An object lesson in how to create a great start to a day.

PS I think you need Dan to be your tags editor...

Aw, Juicyju...

I so love reading your posts! They are always full of optimism, and you get a real feel of how much running has become a part of you now. We should all feel blessed that we can run - we all know the benefits are unbelievable! Feeling strong, physically and mentally, overcoming self doubt, friends and family proud of what we've achieved! And now we all know that everyone can do it - as long as you stick with the programme and keep moving forward.

Thanks for writing your fabulous posts! X

Happy Running :)

I can't use the excuse that the rain was impossibly heavy here, seeing as you are just up the road, but I wimped out yet again. Brilliant post, you crazy panther lady!

Am waiting for this awful statin withdrawal to stop making my legs feel in pain! Apart from that doing well, but can't wait to get some running under my belt again. Doctor said ten days to get back to pre statin status. Can't wait...

That's so so hard but worth it... Just think you will soon be out there ... strutting your stuff again with your pink Lycra and double boxer combo....

We all enjoy different things about our running... And I couldn't do a 10k in that sort of rain!!!

That's pretty cool (in all senses of the word!). Running in the rain is fabulous; not sure I've found my panther yet but I love being completely soaked through.
