Thank you to everyone that posts on here. According to Laura I am officially a runner, but it is you people who really make me feel like one. I read that I am not alone in struggling for the first 10 minutes and you encouraged me to run in the rain, and know that I am not the only one who is bored with Laura's music. I am even considering a park run!
How do I play other music and still get informed of the times I need? And can anyone recommend music suitable for a slow plodder?

The music gets a bit much after a while doesn't it? Not sure about mixing your own music with the podcast times but I'm sure I've seen it mentioned on here that it can be done. Once you get to week 7 you don't really need to listen to the podcasts, unless you need Laura, as the intervals are over.
If you want to listen to your own music at a suitable pace try looking at jog.fm - you put in your time per k and it lists music with bpm to suit. Good luck with it!
Probably sacrilege to post this, but there are other apps for smart phones which can be downloaded for free or for just a few £s. You can then set how often you want reminders about how long gone/how much to go etc, and you can run your own music in the background..........Sorry...............off to hide now
As Sarah says, jog.fm probably the most user friendly music site
I've actually been using a different app from the word go as I didn't like the music on the C25K podcasts. My programme is slightly different in that it's only eight weeks, rather than nine, but a friend has been using C25K at the same time, so we've been spurring each other on. I downloaded 101 Running songs and use that as background and my audio coach just kicks in over the music as required.
Funnily enough I came across 101 running songs last night and downloaded it ready for tonight's run. Now all I need to do is work out how to set my intervals.
There are one or two of the songs which don't seem very motivational. The other day I was toiling along, only to hear "I'm wicked and I'm lazy" in my ears :-). Most of them are great though - like Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now" or the theme from Rocky.
I use Endomondo on my smart phone. I paid for the 'Pro' version (£3.99), which allows you to program a run with intervals. You can then use this, and listen to your own music. It also tracks your run, and provides loads of useful stats.
jog.fm is a new one on me. Thanks for the tip SarahP
