Nearly managed w5r3, after warm up walk got to 10min had 15/17 seconds dead stop and then did another 15 min of my usual slowish jog. Not sure if to repeat week five or just to proceed to 6?

Hi - I've just finished Wk5 Run 3. Sounds like you did really well - to run another 15 mins. I think the mental challenge is the hardest thing - to go from running 8 mins to 20 is daunting - but when you think of it you actually ran for 25 mins. I found slowing my pace kept me going. Why not just repeat Wk5 R3 just to get over the mental challenge of 20 mins? You can definitely do it. Good luck!

I think you will get a real boost from completing the 20 minute run, instead of the doubt in your mind at the moment. You have proved that you can do it, and run for a longer total time!

Thank you for the replies, youre right think I'll try again at run 3, I know I can do it just need to remind the legs they can have the recovery walk at the end! It should go better on tuesday as it'll be after work this time and not first thing on a Saturday morning when I tend to struggle. I can do it!

I agree with the others, repeat the run and get the mental bit behind you, then you will have confidence in your own ability to do the continuous running. Well done on running for 25 minutes, though.

When you have another go, make sure that you start off slowly: "it's just a slow jog", as Laura likes to remind us. I like to remember the advice that she gave in one of the early weeks (2 or 3, I think) - to not be too bouncy. Head above the hedge and all that!

Good luck!

I agree, I would repeat run 3 if it was me, good luck!

Can't possibly go any slower or will be in reverse! Will peg it back a little, I'm feeling better about tackling it again on Tuesday with doing longer albeit with that mini break yesterday. All being well I'll be on week 6 by Thursday

Hi Clumsy, well done for running the total of 25mins and for confessing minor misdemeanor. i had to stop on w5r1 because of shoelaces and like you tagged on extra mins at the end as a make up. Look forward to hearing how you get on on Tuesday.

Week 5 run 3 round 2, passed with flying colours this time. Everything felt better on this attempt, granted had to drop my speed right down but I was that happy when Laura piped up to say I'd done it, I just kept going! Managed an extra five mins at a slightly faster pace. No more early morning attempts, obviously doesn't work for me. Am now thinking might actually graduate!

Fantastic another 25mins, not too far from the 30mins target - so time to start dusting off your mortarboard.

I completed wk5 yesterday too and in the 5mins warm up paced out the edge of the cricket pitch I jog round. I reckon I covered 2.7k in the run which means, allowing for fatigue, it'll take a week to do 5k. Time to hop skip and wheeze into week 6. See you there.

Thats great, roll on week 6 for both of us. I only covered 2.8 k for the whole session with dropping speed down. On graduation I plan to go back to week 1 and have runs / jogs to build up my speed and distance. All of my attempts are on a treadmill, dont think I could pace myself right outside and state of paths and roads would probably come a cropper.
