Should I repeat Week 5 Run 3?

Hello all,

I've been a silent reader here for awhile and have found all your posts really helpful. I started the C25K about 7 weeks ago and have had a pretty easy (ish) route to Week 5. Obviously it's been hard but I've always been able to complete the days without huge struggle.

Until Week 5. I'd been a little poorly, so had a gap of about 4 days between Run 1 and Run 2. I found Run 2 more difficult than any of the other Runs on the course. But I completed it.

I tried Run 3 today, having taken on board peoples advice that the challenge is as much mental as physical.

I managed to get to 15 mins but then HAD to stop - I thought I was going to be sick. I literally stopped for about 15 seconds, then carried on and finished without getting any worse.

But I feel that I haven't completed Run 3 'completely' because I stopped for those few seconds. What do you think? Should I repeat Run 3? Go back to Run 2? Or go on to Week 6?

Thanks for any help :)

Hi there,

No-one on here actually saw you stop, so you're ok 🏃‍♀️👀 Seriously though, 15 seconds is nothing, so don't worry about it. Enjoy week 6!

Well, you could have been stopped temporarily at a pedestrian crossing whilst you waited for the lights to change.

So tick off W5r3 and move on to W6r1. You are unlikely to have any problems.

You're right. And that's what I shall now tell people. Thank you

Yep that counts as complete in my book as well. Do be careful about running when you’re not well though.

Thanks. And yes, I think I might have run Run 2 too soon after being ill. But was desperate not to lose the momentum. Will start Week 6 and see how things lie.

That definitely counts as a win. I took about 4 attempts to finish run 3. I used to get to about 12 minutes every time and had to stop. Pausing for a few seconds makes no difference. Well done.

Thanks to you all. Did week 6 run 1 today. Not too much problem although sometimes I feel like I’m getting less fit with every run!! Bad shoulder/chest spasm today. Oh joy! 😂
