Thanks Ade & notbad, its a lovely part of the Scottish wilderness. I've been up Lochnagar many times, lost count to be honest but I think 8 or 9, every time it was different. We often came off Lochnagar down to the Dubh Loch and then onto Loch Muick. It was all so very familiar to me today it was like I had never been away!! Great times and smashing memories I had to help carry me around the loch.
Lovely blog, and the photos are great. Another place on my list of places to visit when I have more time (retire?) A lovely memorial run for your friend too
Great run and great photos. I've not walked around Loch Muick (and only done two ascents of Lochnagar), but I can visualise the tough terrain you were running on.
Thanks T, It can be a beautiful glen but then when the sky is cloudy and dark it can appear quite a sinister eerie place especially when the wind howls around and about. The pine forest surrounding Glas-alt-Shiel is very dark on a dull day, quite creepy. Thankfully it wasn't like that on Sunday, that was when the sun broke through the clouds for me.
