hi all. Is anyone on DAILY prednisone long term? II've been on 20 mg daily for about a year now. After a recent exacerbation, I am now at 40 mg. Pulmonolgist wants me off completely eventually but since the flare is over, I really feel much better and am wondering how long I should continue on the 40 MG? A month to let the body adjust and then start the taper by maybe .5 at a time of 1 month, etc?

Opinions?

I am one of the Admins here - I am not on prednisone so I can't provide any insight. I can recommend if you do not find an answer here, you could join in on the Right2Breathe patient support group called Pulmonary Chat. We meet 3X per month at 4:30 PM New York Time (Eastern Standard Time in the US).

If that would be helpful, I can provide the information to register...

Everyone seems so supportive I'm just surprised that no one has commented. Maybe I just need to move along to a different forum.

Not sure why some topics get more responses than others. I do encourage you to join Right2Breathe live for the Pulmonary Chat support group. It is a wonderful community of patients who support each other. I feel this group is good, and am grateful for the COPD Friends group, and the Pulmonary Chat support group is complimentary to this one.
