Sputum clearance exercises

Just been given Spiriva . My consultant has said I must carry out sputum clearance twice daily, any advice on sputum clearance exercises. I am awaiting physiotherapy but would like advice. Many thanks

Hi Bob, have you tried Mucinex or Mucinex D? They seem to help me somwhat. Hope this helps.

Purchase a flutter valve (I like the green one best). I found mine on Amazon. These work without fail.

Those are good techniques. The preferred way for a lot of people I know is the coughing method(all3) . I use a small pillow instead of my arms to cough forward.
