Dealing with Mucus

Hi,

I have been diagnosed with Asthma a year ago though this is now being challenged due to having never had an attack and no inhalers having any effect.

A brief summary of my condition is:

- 32 Years old

- Chronic cough with mucus congestion

- Prescribed Fostair, Salbutamol and Spiriva Respimat but all have failed to help

- Regularly have to take Co-Codamol for pains associated with cough

- Bought a nebulizer and use 0.9% saline solution which helps a tiny bit

- Also take omeprazole to negate possible silent reflux due to cough

- I get wheezy occasionally and my wife has recorded me seemingly have Sleep Apnea attacks (making really weird breathing noises and stuff)

- Ex-smoker but have been quit for a decade and condition started 2 years ago

- Cystic Fibrosis gene carrier, sister has CF

- Consultant suspects possible Bronchiectasis

- Was running/cycling/working out every day when symptoms appeared, now can't run the length of myself

What I would like to ask is about any remedies or advice people can give regarding shifting mucus. I have tried all the better known things that you would find with a google search.

I have a pep device and do my breathing cycle stuff but it just never seems to end and nothing they offer me has helped. I can't remember a minute in the past two years when I didn't cough.

I have requested 3% saline but they can't give me this until they do the challenge test to figure out if it is asthma or not.

Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

Just a suggestion have you had Covid? ... even possibly in the mildest form in the past? Possible even in December 2019 onwards?Possible effects of long Covid maybe a thought if so

I beg you to look up proton pump inhibitors (omeprazole), and why they should not be used long-term. They are dangerous and actually increase your risk of lung disease, along with so much more. I also HAD 'heartburn' for years, and discovered I had to change my diet - no hydrogenated foods, no high-fructose, no processed foods (I do consume some on occasion, if I am willing to pay the price). If I get 'reflux' I use 1/2 tsp baking soda, in warm water, sometimes with a squeeze of lemon (yes, lemon - lemons turn alkaline in the stomach). After a few burps, no more heartburn. Hope you will search out your health and take control for yourself. I also nebulize acetylcysteine and food grade h2o2 (separately). Hope you come to a solution that works for you.
