Hi, so my hematologist has said I need to start chemo , undergoing lymph node biopsy tomorrow to make sure its CLL and not lymphoma since I was dx only on blood work, but before I actually start chemo was thinking I should see a CLL specialist (esp. because you all have recommended it). Does anyone know one in this area of the country? - Julie

Colorado Blood Cancer Institute. Dr. Matous is wonderful if you can get in to see him. Good luck. Dorothy Star
I highly recommend Dr Kamdar at Anchutz. She's been my CCL specialist since 2015. Fabulous doc and person. We also have an active CCL support group in Denver if you're interested. I would be especially concerned that your doctor is talking chemo when they haven't even confirmed you have CLL. Depending on the characteristics of your CLL, chemo may not be the recommended treatment plan. My recommendation - RUN to a specialist before starting any treatment.
Ask the doctor if he reviewed the recent papers at ASH2018...

Unfortunately in the USA there is sometimes a conflict of interest since many doctors get compensated for giving chemo in their clinic where as with a prescription they do not make any money . This was my experience. The Doctor knew what he was doing. Saying negative thing about Imbruvica but not giving me any of the negative side effect from FCR.
I switches Doctors.
Be well,
