in remission and stable
Hi, I've had IBS all my life, for years I never left home without a change of clothes incase of accidents. I worked out what foods made it worse, for me it is onions, fizzy drinks, wholemeal bread/rice/pasta, anything that causes wind, oranges, I try to cut these out of my diet. I do know that mycophenolate can cause stomach issues (I'm post transplant and take it) many drugs can cause stomach issues. I was put on amitriptyline in 2022 for pain and haven't have a single IBS attack since, I have read an article that amitriptyline can help with IBS, talked to a pain management doctor about this and he said it's a muscle relaxant so it possibly relaxed the muscles in the bowel.
Stress is also a major factor in IBS.
I'm not a doctor and can only talk from my experience, talk to your GP there are drugs available to help with IBS, but talk to your doctor before taking over the counter medication as they can you interfere with prescription medication.
