Budesonide

Since then I have been put on Budesonide for 12 weeks. I'm on 9mg for 8 weeks, 6mg for two weeks and then 3mg for two weeks. My consultant has asked me to send in a stool sample after 8 weeks. He said if the calprotectin level normalises then he said we have enough to suggest it's Crohn's.

Calp showed a reading of 240 in July this year and was given Budesonide... however i have just completed the course 3 weeks back, and the calp now has a reading of >2000... not only did the BUdesonide not help, but in fact has worsened my symptoms (still blood in stools and now stools are mostly semi-sold

if anyone else was on this regime and how they got hold of the Budesonide?

I have been prescribed Budesonide previously without any issues, but this was way before PMR and Prednisolone.

I am still on 3mg budesonide, mycophenolate and urso and numerous other tablets, unfortunately I am getting a lot of IBS does anyone else suffer with this numerous times and do they have any self help tips? Thanks

This was an indication the steroid budesonide was beginning to help food absorption of nutrients. There are still GI issues, bowel movements and some general discomfort. Yet, the medical team is confident these will resolve over time. They indicated a lot may happen between now and day 100.

Has anyone switched to these meds this way, I've never had Budesonide or Formotorol before. Anyone gone from PMDI to Turbohaler and what was their experience, good or bad? Thanks all.

The gastroenterologist prescribed Budesonide. I took Budesonide EC 3 MG capsules for 2.5 months. Thankfully, the diarrhea stopped after the 2nd dose.

Also discussed mi idea of taking Budesonide after some food in stomach. Have always taken it before food. Interested in others' experience thanks. It's the Capsules I take.

As I was weened off the steroid Prednisone I have recently been put on the steroid Budesonide. This designed and intended to stay in the GI tract and help get some of those functions back to a normal range.

He suspects a connection to my discontinuing Budesonide for collagonous colitis, which is in remission (I think). I had been taking it for 4 years and stopped when I was becoming constipated.

Edit: The inhaler is called Fobumix inhaler powder. 160 micrograms / 4.5 micrograms of budesonide / formoterol fumarate dihydrate.

She said I had to go on Budesonide tablets - 9mg for a month, then 6mg for another month, then 3mg for another month. She gave me a 10 day deadline to start it if I had not turned the corner. (My meds: 4 x 500mg Salazopyrin per day, am Predsol 5mg suppository plus pm Salofalk 1gm suppository.

The consultant told me last week that even though he can’t find crohns he thinks it’s crohns as my symptoms all relate to it and because of my calproctin results and the biopsy’s showed some inflammation but not enough to diagnose crohns he still wants to start some medication on Budesonide for 3 months

Gastro recommended Budesonide steroids incase it was AIH overlap for 3 months. Left me on them for 6 months and my face to face apt after 4 yrs ! Kept being cancelled. In November my ALT jumped to 109. Eventually saw him a month ago and ALT was 250 !

Apart from asthma, I have problems with a heart valve (Mitral), and I am hormone treatment for prostate cancer, and also I take Budesonide spray for nasal polyps. Lately I have not been feeling well. I know the side effects from the hormonal treatment, but this is different.

Google seems to suggest taking both is an option but I'll check with the pharmacist when I get them as my stomach also flared up so taking 9mgs of Budesonide at the minute.
