It started so well. I got up, drank coffee and beetroot juice (not together, obviously). I'd downloaded the second guided run of my NRC plan last night so put it all ready to start on my phone, and connected a BBC Pacesetter mix to keep me going. Marvellous organisational skills!
Then I went downstairs, tied my hair back and set off running...only to realise I'd left my headphones next to the hairbrush.
Oh well, never mind, I'll do the guided run next time (I prefer it when Coach B is in my head, not shouting out for everyone to hear π)
I decided I wouldn't look at my watch, just run how I felt I wanted to. We did our usual 3K course and as we climbed the stairs on the sea wall were greeted by the site of a mass of wading birds, feeding at low tide in the waters of the estuary. I think they may be black tailed godwits but please correct me if I'm wrong. What a sight! One of the benefits of living near a bird reserve.
Once home I checked the stats. My fastest 3k since July. Not fast by most people's standards but then I'm not out to impress lol. I just found it interesting that I could do a comfortable run that actually was a bit quicker. Eilish McColgan has nothing to worry about though π

There really is beauty in the brown river water, the mud and the flat scenery. Not as obvious as the Med or the mountains but well worth taking the time to appreciate β₯
Well done on the run, I run with music normally and accidently left my phone at home,I had the headphones in my pocket and then nothing to listen to!! I ran quite a relaxed 3 miles with some speedier strides thrown in for good measure.
Thanks, if I'm just out on a run with my husband I don't usually listen to anything - just enjoy the sounds of nature and we swap the very occasional comment. If I'm doing a guided run though I like something in the background.
It's good to add a quicker section in an otherwise slow run, if you're in the right mood a minute or so of 'flat out' really clears the cobwebs, well done you πΈπββοΈπ¨
What a super run! Sometimes chucking the plan in the bin is the best plan of all! I donβt think Iβd have managed without music-I get in my own head too much. Massively impressed with anyone who can run with nothing in their ears.
Super to have a fast run too- it turns out youβve got speedy speedster in your veins!!! πͺπββοΈπͺ. Those unexpectedly quick runs are so motivating!
If my husband and I run together I don't normally listen to music, it seems a bit rude I'll often get an earworm though. I kind of like my earworms, the bit of a song that has just the right rhythm for my run playing where only I can hear it, over and over again (if this happened in real life it would drive me mad!!)
If I ask Mr Y if he has an earworm it often turns out he has the same one as me! Probably because we listen to mostly the same stuff!!
