Coach Bennett is a great one for 'every run has a purpose'. This morning the only purpose that came to mind was to get a short run in while I can because next week I'll be travelling and most unlikely to be able to get out.
My son was heading off to look at a place to rent so I wanted to be back before he left at 9.30. I'd made him breakfast before we left because, well, I'm his mum, so there was every chance he'd have set off while we were out.
I didn't think much more about it but the run seemed to be passing quickly. The first km was faster than I'd been for a while. The second was a few seconds faster and the third a little bit faster again. I was aware I was making a bit of an effort but not very much.
Maybe it was cooler? Less windy? Maybe it was the glass of beetroot juice I had before I left? Or a good night's sleep (I bought a new duvet and pillows yesterday, extravagant I know, the old duvet was only about 30 years old π). Whatever, I wish I could bottle it for those days when getting out of bed is a bit too much of an ask.
When I got home my son was still there, wow that was quick - out and back in less than 35 minutes. Maybe the purpose of the run was just to remind me that going a bit quicker can be fun too
