French run

After a very busy few days of preparation we finally set off up the Seine towards Paris yesterday. Perfect weather, beautiful scenery, this is more like it. We are moored in a picturesque village just beyond the first lock on the waterway.

This morning my husband suggested a run. I admit, the gremlins were there, even though it was lovely outside, I was just so comfy in bed....but I couldn't say no, could I? First though, I had to attend to certain 'functions' which I didn't want to do on the boat.

A helpful map from the tourist office said there was a public loo a few streets away. I set off, optimistic. I couldn't find it. I tried to find the one I'd used yesterday. By now it was getting urgent. I took the wrong turning, ending up back at the boat so had to retrace my steps. Finally I found it! Phew. My husband was about to set up a search party, I'd been an hour.

With all this kerfuffle there was no need to do a warmup walk. We set off along the waterfront. It is so beautiful, the opposite bank is forest covered islands, our side is ancient but beautifully maintained houses. A young deer ran across our path. What a special place.

I ended up running 3.5km and enjoyed every second. Definitely a good one today :)

That sounds gorgeous! Which side of Paris are you? East or West?

I live along by the Seine (about 10 mins on foot) but not near Paris, some of the scenery along there is really pretty, it's one of my favourite runs.

We are travelling up the Seine on our boat, from the English Channel to the south of France. We are currently north west of Paris. The Seine is such a beautiful river and seeing it from our own boat is just an amazing experience!
