After a very busy few days of preparation we finally set off up the Seine towards Paris yesterday. Perfect weather, beautiful scenery, this is more like it. We are moored in a picturesque village just beyond the first lock on the waterway.
This morning my husband suggested a run. I admit, the gremlins were there, even though it was lovely outside, I was just so comfy in bed....but I couldn't say no, could I? First though, I had to attend to certain 'functions' which I didn't want to do on the boat.
A helpful map from the tourist office said there was a public loo a few streets away. I set off, optimistic. I couldn't find it. I tried to find the one I'd used yesterday. By now it was getting urgent. I took the wrong turning, ending up back at the boat so had to retrace my steps. Finally I found it! Phew. My husband was about to set up a search party, I'd been an hour.
With all this kerfuffle there was no need to do a warmup walk. We set off along the waterfront. It is so beautiful, the opposite bank is forest covered islands, our side is ancient but beautifully maintained houses. A young deer ran across our path. What a special place.
I ended up running 3.5km and enjoyed every second. Definitely a good one today
