We've now covered nearly 400km of the Seine's twists and turns, which is truly one of the most amazing things I've ever done. One of the few downsides is that we don't necessarily end up somewhere where you can run.
We were in the outskirts of Paris for the weekend and did a lot of walking. On Monday there were strikes which meant our train terminated 4 stops before we wanted to get off. A quick check of the map - only 4 km to the boat - yeah, a piece of cake. It's very different when you've been doing touristy stuff all day and are tired! Over 20,000 steps that day so I'm not exactly taking it easy.
Yesterday was a bit trying. I'd slipped getting onto the boat and landed on my most padded bit, thankfully. My hip sort of felt out of alignment. Normally I'd just do a few exercises and go for a walk, but we did10 hours in the boat travelling across Paris (so exciting and a bit scary) and I ached all over when I went to bed.
My body battery has been getting lower and lower but last night I had a great night's sleep after eating far too much pizza. We are currently in a marina next to a most beautiful park so today was definitely a running day. I was hoping that a run would sort everything out. Checked my body battery - 7/100. Oh well, I think we're all agreed that numbers mean nothing so off we went.
We set off across a lawn full of daisies. Ouch! My knee started to niggle painfully. Not running for a week and then sitting still all day yesterday is a recipe for disaster. I ran slowly, very slowly, and swapped the grass for a flat path which seemed to help. After a km or so it was fine. I think it's truly a case of 'use it or lose it'.
We did just over 3km and at the end I felt immeasurably better, as if my body had remembered how it was supposed to work. Magic!
Note to self: KEEP MOVING!!
