I haven't run in over a week, since last Friday. We were just south of Rimini, the sea was grey and uninviting, it was rainy and there was a headwind on the way back. My NRC was playing up, it recorded a 5 km run in under 25 minutes. That'd be a PB for me if it was true. Garmin said 3k. Oh well, I'll take the NRC PB stickers for 5k, 1 mile and 1k, can it be our little secret please?
We're now on our boat in Greece. My sister lives up the hill by the bay and our car (which we drove here from England) is in a restaurant carpark a five minute dinghy ride away. My running shoes were at my sister's house until yesterday, but this morning they were in the car so no more excuses!
We drove up the hill to drop my change of clothes off, then walked down the hill and started the run. There are a lot of slopes, mostly gentle ones on the route we took but as our normal run is on very flat ground I felt each degree of gradient, a 28 metre elevation gain as opposed to about 3m at home.
We were slow and steady and once we'd completed 3 km (well 3.14km actually, gotta do a π run in Greece, haven't you?) we jumped into the sea to cool down. Bliss. Husband swam back to the boat, if you look closely at the pic you can see his head and the boat is there somewhere too.
I walked up the hill to have a proper shower and wash my hair. I've just been swimming and rinsing the last few days and my hair was a solid mass of salt, sweat and grease. Now I actually look blonde again!
Happy days, I know how lucky I am to be here
