I did not set out this morning aiming to do a 10k but I did plan a route of 10k and decided to see how far I could get. I ran with my friend and we set off nice and slow and maintained a steady pace throughout. The sun was out, birds singing and the lovely colours of autumn all around us and we just chatted (comfortably). Every now and then one of us would ask the other ‘you feeling okay?’, and we both felt fine, breathing steady, legs fine, still chatting. We could not believe the distance we had covered and just as I started to feel a bit tired, she said ‘we’re at 9.4k’, so we decided to slow it down and just keep going till we hit that magic distance! We high fived and walked uphill back to our starting point. I’m so pleased as I have a 10k run I have entered in December and I now know I’ll be okay. Feeling pretty good right now! ☺️
I ran 10k! Hip hip hooray! : I did not set out... - Bridge to 10K
I ran 10k! Hip hip hooray!
Congratulations 🎊🎇
Well done, I bet you are a real high after that. Getting to 10k is a real milestone
Don't forget to claim your shiny 10k badge
🎉🎉💐👏👏 well done you should be feeling good. I knew you wouldn't be far behind me. You've worked hard for this so savour it & celebrate. 💪🏃♀️👏👏👏👏💐💐
haven't thought about it yet. Like you, I hadn't really planned to reach 10K it just kind of happened. Bit of a mad busy week this week so I might just do a bit of online leggings shopping over the weekend. I'm already thinking about when I'm going to try the next 10K. What about you, what are you doing to celebrate?
that's what I was thinking, try and stick to 2 or 3 runs a week and roughly 10K, 5K & 4K. I don't think I want to try to do any more than that for now. That'll be about 2 and a half to 2 and three quarter hours of running every week, can't believe I'm being so blasé about thinking of that as a regular routine 😮😊
I do wonder if we do decide to stretch ourselves further in the future (time or distance) will we feel 10k is as we now find running 5k. 🤔
Congratulations to you Dendev75 on completing your first 10K, well done, remember to tell the administrators, then you will see the magic words 10K next to your username. 😊 🏃🏾 🎓 Good luck for your 10K event run in December.
That’s brilliant Dendev75 😊. It sounds like such a nice run, especially with a bit of chinwagging as well. Well done!
Congratulations Dendev75, 10K is a great achievement in your running life. So much better that it caught you almost by surprise - that shows you were ready before you thought you were. Well done! 🏃🏼♀️💫👍🏼👏🏼 🏅
Brilliant Dendev75. You can join the premature 10k club! A lot of us ran the 10k before we were meant to. 😂
You can now claim your 10K graduate badge. Job done.
Well done. A nice and steady run. 10k is a true milestone.
How did I miss this?!! Superb news and a brilliant achievement. Hope you’re still celebrating! 🏃♀️ 💪 🎉
Well done!! I'm still working my way up to 10k.
Thank you, how are you getting on? I’ve had to slow down my pace a lot when I set out for a longer run - I’m never bothered by speed so it really helps as I feel comfortable until the end (we’ll almost). 😊
I had a break of 4 weeks recently for various reasons, so I'm a bit behind with my aim to run 10k. I've started jeffing to get back into it and it seems to be working for me and hasn't affected my pace too much. I definitely feel more comfortable at the end of a run but 7k is furthest I've run so still some way to go! 🏃♀️
Well done Dendev75, I'm so impressed! 😃🎉
Thanks Liono 🤗 I had to do lots of yoga stretches afterwards to ward off those niggles but I feel okay this morning.
how are you getting on with your exercises? Is it feeling any better/stronger?
Hi guys! I'm ok, still here reading posts and trying to still feel part of the club, but sadly not running. I'm exactly the same as I was when I stopped running in July. I did the physio exercises religiously for about 8 or 9 weeks but there was no improvement and I actually thought they were making things worse so I've now stopped them. I've had some blood tests to rule out inflammatory conditions like rheumatoid arthritis so am awaiting results of those. No real pain day-to-day, just permanently stiff feet and tendon hurts when prodded. Trying to keep active with walking and cycling in the meantime 🙂
I’m really sorry to hear there’s been no improvement and I know trying to find out what the cause is can take so long. It’s good you can still get out for a walk or cycle, I couldn’t imagine not being able to get out for a walk, that’s what I used to do before ct5k. I hope you get some answers soon. 🤞🏻
That's brilliant, Dendev! What a fantastic achievement and so quickly! I suppose it's all about consolidation now....?
Thanks 🤗 I know, those 8 weeks of the magic plan flew by and before I started I was just about managing 35 mins, I’ve learned a lot over those few weeks and with lots of advice and encouragement on here I actually ran for 1hr 13 mins yesterday (can’t quite believe I ran for that long).
Awesome! I think I mentioned that I'll start the Magic Plan in the spring when it's a bit lighter in the mornings - otherwise I could potentially use having no time as an excuse to bail 🤣🤣
it’s good to have a plan, have you been consolidating at the moment? How’s it going?
I'm getting out for a run 3 times a week, usually half an hour so yes, I guess I'm consolidating! I've done about 4 parkruns which I enjoyed, and need to get back into them when I return from holiday (Lisbon). A plan. Yes, I need a plan!!
Congratulations on your first 10K Dendev75 ! I also did my first 10k by accident... it's a slippery slope, this distance thing! Happy running!
