Made my first 10K distance yesterday along the canal in the NRC 10K plan. What a great feeling!!
It was planned to be a slow run attempt at 10K and as I'm just one week back to running after an extended sinus infection, I wasn't sure I'd have it in me. But at the nice slow and steady pace, it seemed to go very smoothly! And it was great to see more of the canal...
2 more weeks on the plan. I'm surprised that the plan's remaining long runs are 8K and 4K rather than repeating the 10K. Is there a certain logic there? Off to the internet to explore that question.
First 10K race planned for September, so lots of time, fingers crossed, for consolidation!

Congratulations on reaching 10k drl212 . Re your question, three 10ks in a week would be overload, especially when you're just starting to run the distance.
Yes, the aim of that plan is to prepare for a 10k event. You run 8k the week before your “race”. Then I think you’ve misunderstood-the final week you run 10k again on “race day” as your final long run of the plan.
Congratulations on hitting 10k! That’s a massive milestone. You can swap your 60 minute badge for a 10k one here…
I think you’ve requested it over on Fun Beyond-you only get 10k badges on Bridge. I bet you’ll be asking for a 10 mile over there at some point! For a 10k badge you need to follow the link I’ve posted above. Hope you’re celebrating! 🥳
Well done on your first 10k - a fab achievement!👏💪🙂 I can still remember my first 10k and it remains my favourite distance. As you say, you now have plenty of time to consolidate it for September - what race are you doing?🙂
well done, that is brilliant and you must be feeling so happy!
I have just done week 2 of the plan, not sure I will make 10k, I did 5K yesterday and was dying, can’t even think about doing that all over again! It was too hot for running though, so guess that didn’t help!
Good luck with the rest of the plan, and eventually for your race 👍
Keep going at your own pace, S63! Slow and steady. And avoid the heat! I’m a morning runner and try to get out before it gets too warm.
I went out for a run this morning and didn’t allow myself enough time and started faster than usual. Ran out of steam at the 4K mark. But that’s ok. It was meant to be a 30-minute recovery run, and it was…
Allow yourself to change the run to what you need it to be! Consistency is key!
