Day 6 post op little run

Just when you think you can’t go any slower there’s nothing like a general anaesthetic and very soft diet to prove you wrong. I can’t believe how long it takes me to eat even yogurt or mashed potato. I wouldn’t recommend oral surgery but it has to be done.

I don’t think 5k has ever taken an hour before, there was some walking and a lot of chatting as Jo came with us. The new pathways are nearly all tarmaced now and it’s looking good.

Have fun all whatever you are doing today

As you say, Sola, it has to be done! Huge well done on getting out and giving it a go so soon after your op and as we keep saying, that’s the main thing! Hope the recovery continues to go well!

Thank you, and so do I because come hell or high water I’m going back to work Thursday, while all the consultants argue what to do with me next, but one things for sure they must come to a decision soon because they’ve done all the tests going and a third biopsy would be beyond ridiculous, they’ve referred me to Portsmouth now

Good for you! And you’ll be very welcome to join us in Portsmouth!

The surgery bit was fine, I was fast asleep, the rest has been a bit c#%* to be honest, half my mouth is double the size, wasting is very slow and I dribble like a really old person but part of our walk was a run so i feel life will get better 😀

Doris8 profile image
Doris8Graduate10 in reply to SueAppleRun

Yes definitely will get better. 👍

Ah well done you! It’s lovely to see you got out there, and a chatty 5k sounds like good fun. I love anything newly tarmaced, it just looks bouncy 😁.

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to Frenc

It felt nice and bouncy too, but there’s not much bounce in my legs now, they need some work 😂

Frenc profile image

Well done! Not sure it’s solace but that time is about the usual time for my 5k! So from my Queen-of-Super-Slow perspective, and probably anybody’s perspective, you are awesome!!!

Hope the journey forward is not too anxiety-laden and painful.

You got this, I’m sure!

Huge well done you, getting out so soon after your op'. Take it gently and do what you feel able to. It is all still there, inside you, but heck, what a battering it has taken?

One step, ( bouncy or not), at a time, and remember for me, and for many, many of your friends on here, we don't see your illness weakening you, we see only, your strength.

Gentle Hug x

Great to hear you are up and about and running after such a short time. Sorry though that eating is such a challenge. I suppose for the time being it’s just to get fuel in, but I hope you will be able to return to eating for pleasure soon. My OH is on a low residue diet and something called Huel has been highly recommended.

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to PeggySusi

Thank you, yes it’s only temporary, I’ve heard of Huel, I’m not too bothered about calories, as long as i have some blended fruit, veg and yogurt each day it’s just boring and time consuming

You might not feel like it right now but you remind me of the energiser bunny - you just keep going and going, whatever gets chucked at you! I expect you went home and created a couple of spreadsheets to relax 😁Sending a massive (( hug )) some 💐 and a 🍹 for when you're ready for it (see, it's got a straw - I've thought of everything😘)

Well done on getting back out post-op. The time doesn't matter, just being out will have helped. Hope they get you sorted out and recovery is not too far away xx
