I went boating with friends, and determined to try a little run after 2 weeks on the couch I took my running gear. I ran on ahead to suss out the lock and a good place to moor. Just a little run 2.5km which I really enjoyed.
I took some grief from my friends who are cyclists and who spent some time trying to persuade me to stop running and take up cycling as it's lower impact (foot still not 100% and they think that running is just asking for injuries. This is the serious track cyclist who has had broken ribs from cycling!), then discovered said friend has a sports science degree and she told me how to do one of the stretches correctly. You know when you bend your leg up behind you and hold your foot... if you move it slightly to one side and then slightly to the other you can feel it stretching both sides of the front of your thigh. Very interesting! And I wasn't standing up straight enough. Now I do!
Meanwhile I'm not doing too bad on the cello. Unfortunately I can't upload a sound bite for you all to cringe at. Lucky you!

I fell off my bike doing a charity ride and had to have my ankle pinned and plated! I feel safer on my feet 😊 that’s good advice re moving leg from side to side stretching I will try that!
You don't have to move it much. You'll be able to feel it. 'Tuck your butt in, imagine a string pulling straight up from the top of your head (i.e. stand up tall and straight) and engage your core muscles' was the advice.
Glad you enjoyed it Baddie. I would have liked to hear a bit of your cello. That's brilliant that you have someone who will show you how to stretch properly. I'd marry someone like that
Hello Baddie, Glad that you have been able to have a little enjoyable run 🏃🏻😊 Very glad that the cello is coming along well too. All the very best for your onward running journey.
Sounds like a nice little run to get you back into the swing of things. Hope your foot behaves, just keep an eye on it. 😀
And useful stretch tip from your friend too! I try to remember the yoga phrase ‘head over heart, heart over pelvis’ to keep me standing up straight when doing that stretch - once I’ve got my balance!
