HI all, my first run for a week, too difficult to get one in with family staying.. I go into catering mode and am always thinking of the next meal so not relaxed enough to get out alone. Now we have the house calm and back to ourselves, so no excuse for not getting my running shoes on. I drive 2 miles to the sea as I have swimming stuff to take, just in case I'm tempted. Couldn't believe how many people and cars were out on a grey missley day. I usually run early to avoid this! Not today, the world and his mother was out, plus all the rest of the family and their dogs. Because it had been so wet I stuck to the roads and all the traffic was excellent at slowing down to pass me. Cheerful cyclists said hi, and, despite the numbers, I did 5.something k listening to a Maeve Binchy omnibus. Ending up back in the carpark I changed to swimming stuff, crocs and dressing gown....only managed 40 strokes as I had 2 waves break over my head which then hurts like billyo in the cold.๐ŸŠ Sea is 7' and air temperature about 8. Too many fishermen and walkers on the beach... I like it empty and not to be observed! Now home, coffee and antihistamine tablet and cream as skin is itchy๐Ÿ˜ฃpleased I got out there tho, and that I can share the joy with all the vrbs. Happy new Year to all and Happy running.๐Ÿƒ

I'm warmed up from running, the car is less that 50 feet to the water's edge, I need to cool my itching skin.....no excuse not to dip in really!

Well done on your festive 5k. So interesting to hear of the busy beaches. Youโ€™ll soon have them back to yourself!Mind you, the very idea of even thinking of entering the water is more than I could handle! ๐Ÿฅถ

I will be very happy to have them empty again tho I can't begrudge those wanting to visit them when I have the north sea on my doorstep. It's quite nice not to have to get up so early too..

Just brilliant.

I am lying in front of my fire and the thought of that cold sea ๐Ÿฅถ๐Ÿฅถ๐Ÿฅถ

Haha, as soon as I was back I was infront of a blazing fire with a hotwater bottle I can assure you. Hardly moved since!

Happy New Year to you too! A fantastic way to blow away the cobwebs after Christmas. I find it hard to get motivated when itโ€™s raining, but once out, lovely and you feel so good after a run. ๐Ÿ˜„

Yes, I never feel negative after a run and dip, only after the ones I duck out of! Happy new year to you too.

A run plus a swim in the sea???? ๐Ÿฅถ๐Ÿฅถ๐Ÿฅถ That sounded amazing! That must have cleared away the Xmas cobwebs!! Happy New Year!!

Oh yes, not much chance of a lurking cobweb after that! Especially with 2 waves breaking over my head....brrrr!

That sounds like an excellent time all round! Other runners and cyclists smiling and waving are what make my runs sometimes, itโ€™s always so heartfelt. Well done for having a dip, Iโ€™m afraid to say Iโ€™d be the one holding the towel! ๐Ÿ˜™๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š
