I do like the river and now Willow does too

I’ve been a bit lazy lately and not run for 11 days, work, christmas shopping, dog walks and can’t be botheredness but I’ve got 3 days off 😀 it’s not raining and there isn’t a howling gale.

I’ve wanted to go to a certain bridge cross the bridge and run from there, Willow hasn’t been that keen and when I mentioned it to Jo she suggested another part of the river, so I’ve been feeling a bit miffed and wondering if I should just go on my own.

And here we are, Saturday morning, 3 days off (oh did I already mention that?) and the weather is perfect, cloudy and still. so I voiced my wish to park by a certain bridge quite firmly explaining if it was too busy we don’t need to go again but very firmly saying I really wanted to try it there.

Plenty of places to park nearby 😀 walked across the bridge and turned left, dog walkers, bikes and runners going the other way, the pathway is wide enough for us all without having to dodge each other or having a bike come from behind so close and making us jump.

Willow went off in front for a while, everyone we saw coming the other way smiled and said hello.

Nice easy running, good calm breathing, step up the pace a bit, pass Willow at just under 1k knowing he would turn soon and head back, he was planning 2k and I was planning 30 minutes, my aim to run with no walking breaks.

Warming up nicely, feeling happy and relaxed, the pathway undulates a little but no steep ups or downs, it’s gravelly so I’m not sure I’d feel safe sprinting, but great for an easy run.

Turn at 2k no Willow in sight just me and my music, a few other people, is that a break in the clouds? yes a splash of blue sky if i look up, um 30 minutes ran, whoops I’ve a way to go to the bridge so run a bit walk a bit and cross the bridge to find Willow sitting in the car watching the world go by.

4.17k in 42 minutes including walking and stopping to take one photo. A most enjoyable run.

The best bit though is what Willow said when I got in the car, he said “that was great we’ll run here again and not even that busy on a saturday morning”

Garmin hates us both and added a year to each of our fitness ages but we don’t care 😀

Happy running, happy weekend

That sounds like a success! Except for Mr Garmin, but I think he may be in a bad mood today.I went for a run for an hour this morning and he added 12 years to my fitness age😡. Possibly linked to yesterday's amazing Christmas outing from work yesterday!

12 years added??? what a pig he is, it was probably for me that i went too far and had longer to get back to the bridge, he usually loves me up to 30 minutes anything over that he hates me 😂

Think you might be right-he's either jealous because we can run for more than 30 minutes and he can't or cross because he has to work for more than 30 minutes without a break when we do longer runs!Hope you enjoy the rest of your break and you have lots of nice things planned to do.

You might have got it exactly flipping Garmin but I do love looking at the stats after! I’m making a brownie recipe that my neighbor gave me so our home smells of baking and melted chocolate, perfect, tomorrrow we will get the rest of the christmas shopping done, wrap stuff and maybe buy a christmas tree 😂

Ah how lovely to have 3 days off, a bit of time away from work can stretch ahead of us with endless possibilities, it’s such a good feeling 😃. And you made the most of it by doing a route you’ve had your eye on which is just brilliant! I’m pleased Willow approved, and that you had such an enjoyable run. The photo is lovely 😊.

Thank you, yes you are right about the 3 days off, I work alternate weekends so weekends off are special and to get the extra day is lovely, I’ve got numerous photos of the river, some with blue sky some when the tide is high and it’s deeper and wider it’s a great place to be

Life does get in the way sometimes, but 3 days off to do what you want. Whoopie.

Well done for getting out and getting your own way on where it should be. I love trying out somewhere new. It sounds like you’ll get back there again too.

ThanksDexy,it was part of the 10k Jo and I did but without the tramping along uneven ground before and after and I thought then it would be a good place to start and finish, Willow said it was better than our park because the path is much wider and less busy

Good successful run Sola, cheeky of Mr Garmin adding a year, but nice that Willow wants to run that same route sometime soon.

Yes and thanks Al, i’ve wanted to for a while now park there and go straight across the bridge but he was reluctant so I’m so pleased he gave in and enjoyed it 😀

Think sometimes you enjoy your runs better if haven’t been out for a while. Everything takes over at this time of year . Nice run and good to see Willow back, Enjoy your time off. We’re trying to avoid crowds in case we get this new variant , with all these restrictions. Keep safe

It’s a bit worrying this new variant, it was good to go out with Willow today, his knee seems to have settled down for now

Another wonderful run for you. You are amazing and loving your running so much!

Thank you, we just run when we can and feel better for it

Reminds me to check my fitness age. I always check my Vox or whatever it is that keeps trotting between 39 and 40. But I always forget to check the age. Anyhow, sounds like you had a nice run, what with people greeting you back and the break in the clouds. And as Willow liked it there too, maybe you can go there more often!

Yes we will do and as there’s a van selling coffee near where we park Willow will have a coffee after his run if I decide to run for longer 😀
