To the river!!! the sky is blue, Willow can’t find his black joggers…. oh dear, I might have given them away whoops, I thought they were the ones I don’t like, so he wore shorts.

We walk across the bridge while Istart my music, set up NRC and quick kiss and we are off.

Uh oh!!! just below my left knee hurts, like an ache but in the bone, and the right knee just below my knee cap on the right side feels like someone’s stabbing me with a needle! I walk, try again, few steps in and it starts again, walk, run, not so bad, walk, run, not bad at all, walk, run faster, walk….you get the picture, the sprints are fun, I can run faster for a bit longer. Because the short runs were faster my breathing is all over the place, I laugh and carry on!

Slow down a bit and run on, both knees are fine now, 2.5k and turn. Don’t know what happened to coach B. He never said a word, just noted each kilometre but the music was good, Eurythmics today.

Oh the turn…. straight into the sun and briefly blind as a bat, note to self, must wear a cap. Walk run back, really enjoying myself and realise my pace is faster. Can I get to 5k in under 45 minutes? maybe…. um nope but it wasn’t far off and what an enjoyable run, cross the bridge, back to the car to find Willow sitting in the sun, he said he was a bit achey so a lot of his half hour was walking but it’s a beautiful day and good to be out.

Garmin gives an average pace of 9mins 1second per kilometre, not bad for a 5k

Run happy everyone or rest well.

I’m doing an Army challenge training day on Saturday and wondering if I’ve bitten off more than I can chew! the blurb did say average fitness, my daughter reckons assault course type thing, Willow reckons I’ve lost my marbles 😀😀😀

Your marbles are safe...in a small bag, so they don't get lost on Saturday..it sounds like great fun!

Tour run turned out well despite all, and it looks glorious.

Hope the knee stays settled and CB finds his voice again...maybe Willow will need new joggers before Winter?

Well done both! X

I also had a strange run recently where Coach Bennett wouldn’t talk to me. I thought he must be off with one of his other groupies! Eventually I found a similar run of the same length and used that instead. The NRC app can be a bit buggy.

Sounds like a great run though in a really beautiful place. Good luck for the weekend’s activities!

It was a bit strange but I really enjoyed it, a couple of minutes faster than recently too, a few PR’s on Strava.

The no talking happened on a 10k run once but it still records. I love the river, the tide was very low and later we drove across the flyover and it’s full to overflowing, even more beautiful

Oh Saturday, a day of outside activities, including preparing lunch and portalloos and no tea, forecast 70% rain sounds perfect 😍

oh no!! Random pains when you are starting off are always a worry but it sounds like you were sorted by the end and at least you enjoyed it. Did you own up about the joggers? Or play the “ well if you put your stuff away properly you’d know where it is “ card.? 😂

better you than me on Saturday. Good luck and enjoy. Hope your knees hold up ok. Willow will need his new joggers getting colder, and you have him out with you again, . Well done on your time x🙂

Thank you Doris, I’m not sure how much I enjoyed todays run although going faster made me laugh, and thinking of you I made the walking parts as fast as possible, Willow will get used to coming out with me and if it’s raining he’ll stay home, we went shopping and bought him new joggers, and jeans, and both of us a jumper so came back really happy.

I might not run Friday because Saturday might be a bit tough, a whole day outside with rain forecast, but once done it’ll be done 😀

I don’t know who has taken on the craziest challenge Sola; you with the army or me with a Pilates class. I have never done it before! The class turned out to be, me apart, all female…but I managed. I think that people will be really supportive and respectful of your courage in taking this on; Super Sola 🦹!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏🙂

I’d rather do the Army challenge than Pilates, so respect to you, my concern is that I’m past retirement age they will take one look at me and laugh but I’m really looking forward to it now

They won’t laugh Sola; you deserve the utmost respect. 👊

Well done BC, Pilates is great for runners.

I am hoping that it will help with flexibility. My swimming is good for that too, but Pilates seems to increase the loading on muscles. We’ll see. My headphones should be delivered today, so I can give NRC guided runs a whirl. All part of the continuing battle against the ravages of ageing !🙂

ooh, which earphones did you go for?

Shokz OpenRun Pro Sports, which I think are the current version of the ones you pointed me towards, thanks. I like the open ear idea; I always need to keep my ears open for bikes creeping up from behind. The bikes are all singing and dancing efforts .. but, seemingly, they are not all fitted with bells! The ones Oldfloss suggested I look at were out of stock with no clue as to when they might reappear. Thanks to both of you for your help 🙂

I think mine are openmove but, like running shoes, they seem to change regularly . It takes a bit of practice to work out the controls, but I link them to my phone, and can control music and call UTS while running.
