Well took all of you advice after the disappointment of my long run last week. Started slow and then slower still. Was determined to hit the mark this week and slowed even more on the inclines and managed to keep a positive mindset along the way.. once I reached 50 minutes no way was I giving up.
Longest ever run although one of my slowest but did it and please with that. A little way off the 10K but I WILL get there.

Yesss! Well done, you! 60 minutes running is an amazing achievement and you did it! THIS is exactly the right way to build up your stamina. Get your body used to longer time on your feet first. Distance covered doesnβt matter right now. That first 60 minute run feels so good, doesnβt it?

I know! I'm exactly the same. When I started C25K I thought running for a minute or two was a challenge and, like you, I managed my first 60 minute run on Friday. I'm still smiling with the achievement. π
Counterintuitively, it is slow running, not fast running, that develops your aerobic base that you can employ to run further and faster, once developed.
Congratulations!ππ It's a great achievement. The longer distances are there for the taking. 60 minutes feels good. I felt like anything is possible.
It's also approaching the point where the body has to adapt to a long term energy strategy rather than a short term one. For me that transition seems to happen somewhere between 75 and 90 minutes, but everyone's different. (There's another limit that marathon runners hit at about the 30km mark, but neither of us would be worried about that at the moment.)
You might want to think about taking some small sugary snacks with you if you're planning to extend your running duration, just as an energy boost later on in a long run.
If in the future you finish a long run and your legs feel like they're made out of rubber and won't cooperate for a few minutes, you would have benefited from taking in a little fuel earlier in the run.
