60 minutes!

β€’29 Replies

Hiya,

I did it, I ran 60 minutes! Well officialy I Jeffed it with 30 seconds of walking every 4:30 minutes. But that is how I run and Jeffing is an official way of running, so: I ran it.

Despite my down-mood regarding running the last days, it actually went pretty well. I had drank sufficient water the past days and I felt it in my legs. I did feel my legs after a while, but they did not hurt as much as last long run, nor did they feel tired. So hydration IS important!

At about 45 minutes though my right groin started to hurt. A very unpleasant feeling which only stopped in the walking breaks and returned when running. Nevertheless I bit through it, I wanted to have my 60 minutes done!

And yes, even with a little bit of energy left (I did nibble 2 Powergel Shots during the run), I reached the magic 60 minutes!

I might now take 2 days off instead of 1 though, let the groin rest a bit more. My original plan was to keep increasing to 10 km (about 90 minutes). But I think I am now just going to do some runs without a goal. So not focussing on 30 or 60 minutes. Just run till I feel like going home. Trying to find my mojo again.

Now off to claim my snaily 60 mins medal!

Cheers, Evy

Very well done πŸ‘ and glad you are feeling more like yourself again. You did it . Very good time as well. Think water does help but partner terrible for not drinking and wondering why he’s lethargic after run. Yes probably better to rest your groin and run whatever takes you . You’ll be on a high after that run and deserve it. Congratulations πŸŽ‰πŸ‘πŸ‘

Thanks and I don't know about that feeling better. On weekends I generally feel better, on weekdays it's something else. But we'll see how it evolves. Do hope I am not on the IC though with that groin, I don't fancy NOT running for longer rhan a few days out of fear of losing my fitness level.

Yay Evy! That’s amazing, you got your mojo back. I’m so pleased for you. Knew you could do it πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€. How did the powergel taste? I had some yesterday and it was like orange slime that tasted of medicine - I think I need to find something else. Have a nice well earned rest especially for the groin, and go claim your 60 min medal. All the best! πŸ‘πŸΌπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ‘πŸΌπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ‘πŸΌ

Actually I bought the Powergel Shots. They are like big jellies that you have to nibble / chew. There are 9 in a packet. I bought all 3 tastes, but have only tried the raspberry ones. They are rather ok though, maybe because they are in jelly form?

I’ll look out for them. What I had was truly disgusting! 🀣

β€’ in reply toFrenc

5 years ago I tried some gels too, but I have absolutely no idea anymore which ones they were and how they tasted. Though I can say that munching a Shot wgile running is something I still have to learn. Must be a pretty sight, me running while munching a jelly while breathing through my mouth at the same time πŸ˜‚

Fantastic! Congratulations on your first 60 minute run ⭐️. Take extra days rest to sort out that niggle and hopefully you’ll enjoy your next run all the more 😊

β€’ in reply to

Thanks and yes, going to take 1 extra day of rest at least. Problem is I don't feel the pain when walking. So how to know if it is better or not...

β€’ in reply to

Oh that’s a tricky one. Plan a short run. Just see how it goes and hope for the best 😊

β€’ in reply to

Ah that is a good idea! Run 10 mins instead of 30 mins for example. Thanks!

Next is 10K, but not immediately. Now I am just going to run without goals. Just refresh for a while. Once I feel up to it, 10K will be next!

Really well done. A great achievement πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ…πŸ…πŸ…πŸ…I decided recently to have 2 rest days after each run as my hip was niggling after each run and it has made a huge difference to the way I feel about running. Much less pressure and I’m enjoying when I do go out as well. Enjoy the feeling of euphoria and celebrate πŸŽ‰. 10 k will still be there when you’re ready to do it I’ve still not got to 10 k it’s an aim to get there sometime this year🀞🀞but I’m not pushing myself. So relax into a new found achievement and enjoy it.

Thanks and yes, after this run I am going to take 2 days off for the groin in any case. I don't want to get stuck on the IC! I'll see afterwards how I proceed, 10K will still be there in half a year even πŸ˜€

Congratulations Hidden . That must feel so wonderful! So far I have run max 41 minutes, after graduating C25K last Feb. Can't wait to get that 60 min feeling! It still seems so distant now!

β€’ in reply toritu85260

After graduating early January, I consolidated a few weeks. And then I kept my week runs to 30 mins and I increased my weekend run with 5 minutes every other week. You can also follow Juju's plan to reach 60 minutes. In any case: enjoy yourself!

Nicely done, Evy!! I love breaking that one hour barrier. If someone told me that I could be out running or jeffing for an hour, I would have laughed. But here we are. I’m so impressed by your jeffing ratio. I’m doing 90:30 and tried to increase the run to 120 but found that too hard. Well done. Hope the groin is feeling better.

β€’ in reply tosofaspud

If you run fast, short ratios are better. But because I run rather slow, I prefer the longer ratio. I found myself running faster and faster with short ratios to compensate the walks and I did not like that. So I stick to the long ratio because it 'allows' me to run slow. If that makes sense πŸ˜‚
