First post-Covid run

I'll be honest, since graduating C25K at the end of March I've not always found it easy to motivate myself to get out there. I was pretty good in the initial consolidation phase, then it dropped from three times a week to two, then it got hot (Algarve summer) so I was down to one 5K run per week. I was still feeling okay though, my plan was always to start the Bridge to 10K in October. Then I tested positive for Covid. Fortunately as I've been fully vaccinated I only had mild symptoms but it still took it out of me.

So yesterday morning was my 1st run in 4 weeks, decided to aim for 3K and finished doing 3.25 in 24 minutes. Feeling good to be back out there, just need to motivate myself now to get back to three runs a week.

Well done on getting back out there !I also did a 3k yesterday after almost 4 weeks !

It's a good distance to get things moving again. 👍

Thanks! It's good to know that experienced runners also do shorter distances at times.

When I'm back to running 3 times a week I will still have a 3k in the mix .My usual pattern for a week would be a steady 5k, a quicker 3k and a slow longer run . 14k being my longest to date

It's good to mix them up .

As far as experience is concerned , I only started 25th May 2020 at 63 and having never run before.

Good luck with your recovery !

Great to hear you only had a mild dose of covid. Very well done on your run in the heat today, hard work at full health never mind post covid. How about setting yourself a total distance target for September, keep it low, every run counts. Happy running 🤗

Thanks! I might give that a try - will help motivate me to get out there.

Well done on taking these key steps. A few easy and short ‘no pressure, no big expectation’ runs just like this can be the best way to segue back to a regular practice. ‘Feeling good to be back out there’ - remember that.👌
