I was itching to get back out for a run as my last run in the programme was three days ago. BUT - the forecast was gloomy with steady rain. After 3 hours of watching the rain, there was a pause that had lasted for quite a few minutes and I thought let's do it. If it starts raining, I can always come back home.
Fortunately for me, the rain held off and I added a few minutes to my 30!! 33 minutes today!
Looking forward to my Garmin Forerunner tomorrow, and I think I'm going to go for a 10K.
Any folks here doing the same?

You've probably already spotted the Magic Plan on this forum drl212 . I found it brilliant for getting me to 10K. It's simple, flexible, and works.
Just one thing - once you've completed C25K you're generally advised to consolidate for a little while. Basically the idea is to minimise injury risk by not doing too much too soon. More info here: healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and here healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
I personally did consolidation runs for a couple of weeks before moving onto the Magic Plan. That was right for me; others will take a different approach.
Hello and thanks! Yes, that's the plan! I'm using the next three weeks to consolidate. I felt good yesterday and was so happy that the rain held off, so thought I would add a few more minutes on to my 30 min run.
Thanks very much for the links!!! I had not seen those before.
Enjoy the new toy! It’s always a nice day when you get to try some new tech.
Just checking that you mean you’re going to build up to 10k rather than go for a 10k run straight from 5k? It’s usually recommended to stick to increases of about 10%. There are lots of options for apps and plans to hit 10k and any of them will get you there. It just needs to happen over time. I might just be reading your post wrong!
Yes I'm in week 2 of the Magic Plan after some consolidating 5k runs + starting parkrun. And I always said graduating from C25K would be miraculous and that would be IT for me...! 😂
I'm hoping to do a park run this weekend. I'm very curious as to how long it will take me to complete the 5K distance. I think of myself as a slow runner, so I'm not sure my 30 minute runs are covering it. But I do think I have some extra in me at the ends of those runs to make it...
Most beginner runners take more than 30 mi uses to do 5k. I finished C25k about a year ago and did a 5k in October - it took me 39 minutes. And I am pretty happy with that time.
When I start to think about how I should be faster I remind myself why I started running. A main reason was to get fitter, which I definitely am. I imagine it's similar for you.
