A week of firsts

Monday saw the first time I had a 47yr old daughter and my boss was sent into isolation! Tuesday was my day off and I was so tired we lay around on the couch all day…no running done.

The rest of the week worked back to back shifts and slept at work 2 nights in a row…

So here we get to Saturday, it’s blowing a hooley and some rain, out we went, me wearing a skort for the first time ever and feeling a bit silly then the rain came down Willow said he wasn’t running but we went to the park anyway and it stopped.

Brisk walk round the park, off we go nice and slow but checking the watch pace 7.50 hmm. Willow ran for 20 minutes and went back to the car and I realised I had 5k in my legs and may even run a good time. Left the park, ran along the road and around the industrial estate

But, I’d forgotten the wind!! oh my when i turned a corner it was straight in my face and i slowed considerably, a slow plod back to the car and done 😀

Not my fastest run, but one of my happiest as we haven’t been getting out much lately and it felt so good 😊

I’d seen a photo the other day on Facebook of the poppy fields so we drove to the Downs then walked through the track and woods and there they were, well worth the extra kilometre walk up hill to see, and of course we had to jog back down again 😂

Happy Saturday all

Hello! I’m not surprised you were tired, but I’m so pleased you had a happy 5k run, it’s just amazing the difference it makes 😊. Sounds as though your skorts did just the trick, and that is such a smashing photo, I’d be up there like a shot of it was near me! All the best. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Thanks, We’ve run up there when it’s dry but it’s slippery but lovely to walk and see for miles, the farmer weed killer ed the lot last year because so many people trampled the poppies and corn the year before. They are lovely to see

Good run for you, what we might call a blowy windy run, nice and bracing 😊 🏃🏾

I didn’t get to the beach as it was very bracing but still warm

Oh yuk, yes that’s what it was like when we first went out, yes the other side is Steepdown and to the left is the poppy field, up from where the tip used to be

I was just thinking the other day that I hadn’t been up there for a while 👍

What a gorgeous photo WaS! Well done on your run Sola; after the week you’ve had you must be feeling super pleased! I shouldn’t worry about lounging around on the sofa all day - you deserve to! And it’s all I seem to have done while the Olympics has been on, think I’ll be glad when they’re over!

SueAppleRun profile image

Oh I love the Olympics and have seen hardly any, I seem to have been either at work or asleep lol

What a beautiful picture you’ve taken. A good 5k with the wind in your face if you’re feeling tired xx Must have been “bracing”! Happy birthday to your daughter, too 😀

Beautiful run and heart warming poppies. I wear a skort for tennis but hadn't thought of it for running. Will give it a go.

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to Mormor1

I wasn’t sure it would work but once running didn’t even notice it

Mormor1 profile image
Mormor1Graduate10 in reply to SueAppleRun

It's interesting in that I would never wear that short a skirt for tennis but with the shorts it seems to make it OK.. Mine don't have a picket tho I can store a tennis ball up the shorts legs!

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to Mormor1

Oh… I never thought about where to store spare tennis balls, don’t think it would work with a phone though 😌

Well done at persevering! Don’t you love those children showing your age. I remember a card I sent to a friend once that said “I no longer lie about MY age, now it’s the age of my kids”!! 🤣 Doesn’t seem 5 minutes since we were that age 🤷‍♀️
