A reluctant runner.

This one was for you Hidden after our exchange this morning.

I really was reluctant but I’d said I would run every day so I was going. Joe is staying, Willows son and he planned to run with me but he took one look out the window and said…”i’m going to pass, the weather is atrocious “ so i sat in bed thinking i couldn’t hear rain.

Willow said he’d walk and wait for me so to the river we went, I really wasn’t that keen, we walked across the wooden bridge and it was slippery as heck, on to the gravel path and of i went, glanced at my watch to check pace only to find I hadn’t set it, set the watch, didn’t help me much because my glasses were in Willows pocket, not a lot of use in the rain,

Oh boy it’s cold out here and the rain is like shards if ice on my face and hands but I run in, a right miserable cow, then there is a little smile tugging at the corner of my mouth!

Pass a couple of dog walkers and a runner, shouting out cheery greetings, not sure what they said as my music is louder than ever, first k in 8.55 oh this feels good.

Ed Sheehan starts to sing Thinking out loud, quick glance round, no one to be seen so I loudly join in, two and a half kilometres and time to turn, walk a little, I wonder how fast I can walk? ran some more, wind in my face now but no longer uncomfortable, keeping me nice and cool, smiling and running, slower but I could speed up….tried it out and not for long I can’t 😂 😂

Well! that was fab! 5k in 46 minutes, haven’t run 5k since 20 november and that took me 50 minutes, running more often definitely makes me stronger.

So, walk back to the bridge? took the photo, shall I run over it? no don’t be silly it’s slippery as heck but then I’m a bit daft so of course I do, small steps and lightness of heart ❤️ I ran and as i ran down the other side I could see my car and ran towards Willow….who had walked a kilometre then back a kilometre then waited for me to return

Happy day 😀

Love the moment when the little smile emerges!

Looks like your grey sky at least has some cloud-form variations. That’s almost exciting!(?)😉

Yes and you are right the sky isn’t quite flat grey in fact there must be a break somewhere i can see shadows

Well done Sola 👏.

You cant beat a bit of singing out loud when you are running. You are also a bit naughty. If the bridge looks slippery then it probably is. Please be careful ......

so love to sing and play sax not very well, but only when I get a distance from Willow as a singer songwriter my noise hurts his ears lol 😂

Wow well done! You certainly have a lot more courage than me, going out in that -ahum- nice weather! You deserve some hot chocolate milk with something sweet along with it!

It's so good to feel virtuous after a 5k in less than perfect conditions!

Well done you deserve a gold star 🌟 you cheer everyone up with your inspiration. Those wooden slats are slippy watch out, even worse when it’s frosty, I should know. Nice time as well under the situation.

Fastest 5k for months, I’m toying with the idea of RED january because the more i run the better i feel but it’ll depend on how many extra shifts i end up doing, all the seniors have booked some leave 😂 Garmin is adding a year a day to my fitness age

Well done, braving the weather! I'm reading this as I lie in bed staring out of the window at the rain and wind thinking 'no'. Wish I had your willpower 😃
