Willow 2k Sola 3k after work

Work was manic today, meeting after meeting and in between the boss asking if I’d done things, flipping woman, when am I supposed to do things? (most the time I don’t even know what the things are 😂)

Anyway, I opened my breakfast at 12 noon, porridge with raisins, blueberries, raspberries and yogurt, took a mouthful and realised I actually was supposed to be in another meeting so put it back in the fridge and shot off back to the office….

So I arrived home from work only half an hour late, made tea and opened up my breakfast again, 2 mouthfuls in I realised Willow was wearing running shorts, whoops! I had said can we run after work before I left this morning, so back in the fridge went my poor depleted breakfast and off we went, I changed my trainers but ran in leggings and tee shirt that I had been wearing under scrubs all day.

Sun is shining, park is busy but we were there so we walked one circuit turned round and ran, first k 8.19 second just over 9, when I looked Willow was in the car and my 3rd k took 10.15 min , I ran off course thought I could finish strong, heart rate high, sun beating down and down hill, I’d forgotten I run slower downhill but no matter now up short steep hill so I pumped my arms breathed really deep and fizzled out as I reached the top and the phone buzzed third k.

Turned round walked back to the car and realised it was too hot too tired after work and ran on empty, but it felt so good.

Yesterday I got my new glasses, after a couple months waiting I can finally see again so every leaf and every blade of glass and flower petal was a source of amazement that I so enjoyed.

So of course the pic is me in my super new glasses

Happy running all

Oh my what a shame not even getting your breakfast by the end of the day 🙁 fab that you still enjoyed your run, hard core!

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to tmbtrain

It wasn’t easy running but does make the day feel better, had a new starter this week so lots of induction stuff as extra but he’s on week 3 of C25K 😀

He has Garmin envy I wouldn’t be surprised if he wasn’t wearing a watch matching mine by end of week and we did talk running a bit

How can you get on with your work on time when you have to keep going to those darned boring meetings, really, anyway, that was a nice run you had after work, I hope it eased the stress of your work day.

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to AlMorr

It wasn’t even stressful, just didn’t get time to eat or drink, at 2.50 my boss asked if i wanted a cup of tea, I said “oo yes please, actually no thanks, i finish at 3” then was packing up to come home at 3.30 should have had the tea

Gee whizz 🙄 How on earth can ‘flipping woman’ expect you to do all these ‘things’ 🤷🏼‍♀️ ( especially those pesky ones that you don’t know 🤷🏼‍♀️) Totally unreasonable 😂🤣

Well done for a run after work 💪

Those are especially fabulous specs 👓👌

But do for goodness sake 😱 ‘eat your breakfast by at least lunchtime’ !😂🤣🥣🥣

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to RacingintheStreet

I honestly think she does it on purpose, she worked from home yesterday and spent whole day sending me emails with questions or tasks but we get on well most the time. Thanks I love the different look

Boss is on leave starting Friday so I will eat breakfast at my desk every day 😂

RacingintheStreet profile image
RacingintheStreetGraduate10 in reply to SueAppleRun

Ah ! Emails are the worst . To the sender it’s just a ‘ping’ , but to the receiver it’s like a barrage of bullets coming through 🙄😂Good plan for breakfast 👌( don’t be reading emails at the same time tho’ 😉🤣)

Wow someone who understands the email thing 😀

A couple of months waiting for new glasses?! Mine (bifocals) take a couple of weeks at most.

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to nowster

I was told 3 weeks because they are a special order, varifocals, prisms, darken in sun all singing all dancing but were delayed time after time and as an apology they are making me a matching spare pair in different frames

nowster profile image
nowsterGraduate10 in reply to SueAppleRun

A complicated job, but the lens grinding itself is all done on computer controlled lathes nowadays. The coatings take time to cure, though.

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to nowster

The first set of lenses came in 21 may and were rejected and there was a hint of a breakage or two

Well done heading out after a day like that, I hope you’ve managed to refuel and rest. Great photo. Happy running 🤗

SueAppleRun profile image

Thanks, i had cheese and marmite on a toasted roll for dinner, can’t cook healthy things if at work all day and run after so sometimes eat my favourite cheese on toast it’s filling comforting and delicious

Yum. I made lovely salmon fish cakes for toddler hugs lunch today, total hated it so ended up with bread and cheese 😂

I hope you at least got to have your evening meal after finally giving up on your breakfast!Love the specs!😁👓

Kudos to you for fitting in a run after that. I wanted to but knew I had so much to do I would only feel rushed. I don't like to be rushed on a run

Maybe first thing tomorrow but we are off to S Wales to see Mr B's daughter and grandkids for the first time since December 2019 for a couple of days on the way to North Wales for a sorely needed weeks holiday so I'm not holding my breath

I am taking my running kit with me though

SueAppleRun profile image

Oh my… what an exciting time you are going to have, we are off up north in a couple weeks to see Williws oldest son and so excited so know you must be too, the glasses are very different to anything I’ve had before and i filled up on quick and easy toasted cheese and marmite roll, Willow had egg and bacon in his roll

Not off a spoon though!

Well done on running, it sounds as though your turned things around by the end of the day! And I love the glasses 🤓. How lovely to be able to see clearly again, the greenery is beautiful at the moment, there’s so much to see. 😊🏃‍♀️😊🏃‍♀️😊

I broke glasses I had only a year and they were rubbish blurry, i’ve been wearing a very old pair and squinting out of one eye since for ages it’s a revelation of wonder how clear i can see now

Impressed that you got out for a run after such a hectic day. Hopefully it will mean you feel really relaxed this evening.Love the glasses- I need to get new ones but I'm useless at choosing frames so always end up with similar ones.

Have a love evening.

Happy running

Story of my life, i nearly always want something different and end up with some very similar, a really lovely young woman helped me choose and i explained what happens usually and she encouraged me to get these, I’m really relaxed now just wondering if i should dog walk with daughter lol 😂

You look super swell, Sola! And i can imagine how wonderful it was to suddenly see all around you in focus and sharp detail. Getting out at all after that day was a total triumph. Inspirational!! (and makes me feel lazy for giving in to overworked exhaustion. There, I’ve now said it: no more excuses; have to go out running tomorrow

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to GailXrunning

Ah but my day off was Monday and I read a book, shopped for food and cooked dinner all day moaning that I should have run in the morning so duvet gremlins often get me too

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to SueAppleRun

Oh and mind you, when I admired myself in the car mirror i said “Oh my ……” have you seen how many wrinkles i have i hadn’t realised but luckily Willow still wears those cheap reading glasses and won’t go get his eyes tested so he thinks i look ok

It definitely sounds like you were running on empty WillowandSola. You take care of yourself and make sure you are drinking lots of water too.

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to Dexy5

Yes thanks Dexy5 I don’t drink enough at work it’s easy to not bother when i have to go outside and remove my mask

Dexy5 profile image
Dexy5Graduate10 in reply to SueAppleRun

You need a bendy straw so that you can drink with your mask on 😷 . Seriously though, drinking water is so important in running and fir your general health. But then you know that.

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to Dexy5

Yes I do and because today was similar I took a large glass of water into meetings and snuck some down 😀

SueAppleRun profile image

Thank you, i’m still at the surprised stage when i catch sight of myself

Oh, how I remember being at the beck and call of work emails, text messages, WhatsApps……. So, so hard to escape. Look after yourself Sola and eat your breakfast! You are a saint to put up with that 😇, I know what it’s like. I’m much happier now I work for myself from home and do my volunteering to get me out and about.

It was warm today. Our side of the Downs got quite sunny and warm enough for me to garden in shorts and t-shirt after work.

Well done for running on empty, but don’t do it too often 🤗 xx

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to

I often don’t eat much at work so have been making porrige with fruit and yogurt and eating late morning just i can’t eat in the office because of wearing masks so we usually eat when one of us leaves the office but today we had so many meetings that there was always about 3 of us in there. It was lovely weather and really too warm to run but often Willow doesn’t want to a d i need him to be enthusiastic when i get home from work. Your gardening sounds lovely

Goodness, I'd have been keeling over by the time I got home, well done sola! And the specs really suit you! (Can I just say your hair is looking fab too?)I've got new glasses too after waiting all lockdown for an eye test. A bit bigger than my old ones, much better for varifocals!

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to grumpyoldgirl

Yes the varifocals suit the larger lenses better. Oh my hair, it’s tied back for work and tied back to run so it’s nice having it loose but badly needs some top up colour, it’s months since I got round to colour, underneath there are a lot of white streaks

Lovely photo of you with new glasses and your hair down all curly :)

I am so pleased I am retired now. Those emails! I was a PA and my boss sent all his emails to me as he got them: ping, ping, ping, ping. Then he'd walk down the corridor and ask me if I'd got things done 😂
