The day has finally arrived πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ A real run with numbers, chips, medals and RBs. Shake-and-run cheekychipmunks TailChaser Katnap and I met up at Cheltenham Racecourse this morning for the Cheltenham Running Festival. It was a beautiful morning, but with a start time of 10.50, a little on the warm side to say the least. Still, armed with water bottles we valiantly set off with a rolling start as part of covid measures. The 10k was twice round the racecourse (with one lap and 4 lap options for 5k and HM) and, although no spectators were allowed and numbers were restricted, it was absolutely wonderful to be back running in a real event. A lovely medal and we adjourned to my campervan for a well deserved celebratory Prosecco and a picnic. Really tough race in the heat, but another step back on the route to normality πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

I think starting at least an hour earlier would have made a significant difference on the temperature!

That was so much fun wasn’t it? What a wonderful way to spend a day. Shame it was like running in a furnace, but we all did very well in the circumstances and we definitely earned our beautiful medals and processo (thanks for the latter Sandie1961 !) πŸ₯‚πŸ’ͺπŸ™ŒπŸ₯΅ β˜€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

That looks so great! I feel the heat, though.

We attempted to run 5k on a normal Parkrun course with a lot of wide tarmac, and even though I was prepared with water and the lightest top I had, it was still too hot and I faltered at 4.5k as another lap would have meant another 1.7k on top.

So we recuperated in the shade with stretches, more water and apples. Heat is something I can’t quite cope with yet!

But your real race outing looks so inviting! Happy happy! πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ

Fingers had been tightly crossed for the last couple of weeks that it wouldn’t get cancelled at the last minute! It might not have been quite like normal due to the precautions, but it was such a thrill to see all those runners together again πŸ˜ƒ
