Day off run

Well here it is, my day off and loads planned including friends for dinner tonight. (i suggested we have Parker but Willow said he isn’t big enough so we’ll have the friends instead)

Anyway, silliness over we got ready and went out.

The park, our park, where it all began, I’ve got a little tired of inspirational runs so it’s Zombies run today for the first time for ages, and couldn’t think of what music to have so chose Nickleback, haven’t listened to that for years.

Quick photo of the wild flower meadow at the side of the park and walk round the track to warm up, it’s half a kilometre and about 5 minutes to walk round. A medium sized rusty coloured dog bounded over to say hello, but was gone by the time we were running.

The sun isn’t high enough to clear the trees yet so quite a lot of our run was in shade. Breathing deeper than usual and I realised we are going faster, I veered off the track to run on the grass through the trees and woo hoo, first kilometre 7.56 i knew I was faster! keep going, bored with the park so went out to the road, took a few left turns and re joined Willow in the park at the opposite end, second kilometre 8.58 phew still better than recently. Zombies chased me up a short steep hill through the trees and zi couldn’t evade them so dropped an item to distract them and ran for home, slowing down now, third kilometre 9.50 more like my usual slow pace in hot weather.

Andy slow down and walk, home again home again 😀

Enjoy the sun, enjoy the run or enjoy the rest x

Still no photo so I’ll put it in comments, the lake from last night, us on the beach and Parker on my lap, I’m hiding under a blanket because he’s at the bitey scratchy stage and my hands are battered and bloody 😂

Parker your kitten is becoming quite a handful, he will disappear from time to time and even scratch you as you say at the end of your post.

A good run in the park in the shadow of the trees, that makes the run not so hot, speaking of heat, the south-east where you are is to become hot and humid over the next few days so any running should take place as early as possible, even at 6 am expect the temperature to be around 16C/60F with high humidity, enjoy the rest of your day off.

👍 🏃🏾

Eat Parker? I think I'm really gonna have to come over and rescue him! Must say that we never had a scratchy period with our cats. We have been lucky!

Sierra (nakey cat) is with us since she was 14 or 16 weeks old and she is now 15 years old. She never scratched or bite, except when I really challenge her with play fighting with my hand. Then a scratch from her hind feet can appear on my hand. But then I more or less asked for it, fighting with her with my hand. Besides that she sleeps a lot, she has chronical pancreatitis and is way too thin because of it. I guess that also saps her energy, thus she hardly ever plays.

Lily (black furrball) is with us since mid October 2019, we took her over from a woman who was terminally ill. Her actual age isn't known, the woman took her in as a stray I think. She guessed at Lily's age as 10 or 12 when we took her over. I decided on 11 then with her birthday being the date we took her over. That makes her 12 now. She lived outdoors most of the time, but she adapted to becoming a permanent indoor cat VERY well. She never scratches, but she does like to bite my fingers when I pet her for a longer time.

As for the run, I'd almost forget it: well done! Also looks like a nice environment to run!

I think it’s just the kitten stage, he stalks and pounces, he like feet and hands but also loves his toys, the scratch post he climbs to the top and launches himself at any high surface, baby cats are truly crazy. I’d never cook him for dinner, we both love him and are having such fun. He’s got his health check today at the vets and apart from his meow being a tiny squeak and maybe some ear mites i think he’s well and healthy.

I suspect he wasn’t 8 weeks when we collected him and maybe he didn’t get to play gently with his mum much so has to learn. He was an only child too so no siblings to nip him back when he got rough.

Your cats sound lovely and way calmer than ours, maybe we could swap one 😂😳😂

Ah indeed, they do learn a lot from the mom and siblings. Maybe you have to hiss when he scratches 😜. I read somewhere once that you can also softly blow in his face when he does something that's not allowed.

Ear mites, yuk. Sierra had them when she came to us. According to the breeder they could not have come from them, but where else could they have come from? Either way, they were quickly done with with some ear medication.

Sierra is calm... too calm according to me. She has never been really playful or so. I fear it's part because of the pancreatitis, but also part because she has been an only child for almost 14 years. And now she is too old to dare play with Lily. She is curious about Lily and often watches her, but she is scared when Lily comes too close (except when there is food - if food is involved, Sierra actually dares steal some from under Lily's nose).

Lily is calm, but regularly gets these idiotic 10 minutes where she speeds through the apartment like hell follows her. But besides that she follows me everywhere (toilet breaks can't be done without her) or sleeps.

But no, I am not going to swap. Take Parker in, ok. But swap: no way. None of my 2 babies are leaving me 😜

Sounds like you had great fun on your run this morning - the best kind of run in my book. Enjoy dinner with your friends tonight. Happy running 🤗

As long as the kitten doesn’t draw blood 🩸 it’ll be a good evening, guitars drums and maybe sax will come out The run was great and going that little bit faster was brilliant

Thanks, I don’t usually run that fast, i think it’s something to do with the trainers but that’s a story for another day, I’d be proud to run alongside you, we have all 4 taken a test today and we’ve all 4 had both vaccinations so feel fairly safe, 😄

That sounds like a really fun run- glad you evaded the Zombies.I remember the scratchy stage from the kittens we've had in the past. They look at you like butter wouldn't melt one moment and are clasping your hand in their front paws whilst scratching it with the back ones the next! Parker is so cute he'll be worth it. The blanket must be hot in this heat-perhaps a pair of oven gloves would do the trick?

Have a lovely evening.
