My first non-stop 11k !!

Cor I’m tired now !! Wasn’t sure what I was setting out to do today - half heartedly thought I’d try another 10k - need to consolidate after the HU spring 10k two weeks ago, last week I managed a 10k jeffing, this week I thought I’d better get back to non stop. Didn’t go my usual long route, stuck to the park perimeter which I thought might be a mistake - would eventually get monotonous, and it’s quite hilly.... ho hum. Got to 5k on second lap of the park thinking ‘only half way 😓!’ Egging myself on to 6k so I could feel I was really ‘all down from here’, if only metaphorically..... unfortunately hit 7k at the bottom of an uphill climb. 🙄At that point I knew I’d either die on that hill (not metaphorical !) or I was going to make it because it really would all be down hill after that !! About halfway up the hill, my rather dull podcast ended and quite unexpectedly Laura came on mid ‘stamina’ podcast, with her 160 step beat and music to go with it - and really helped me to the top of that hill. Hurrah - now I’ve got a beat to run to, I realise it’s slower than my usual beat, that will make it easier. And it was like starting over - only a short 2.5 k run now. Easy peasy. Not, of course but, that’s what I told myself. Anyway, just as I reach 10k, it doesn’t coincide with Laura’s workout and I think, well, I’ll carry on to the end, maybe reach 11k, I can do it ! But forgot that she ups the beat even more for the last 5 mins and I’m like ‘gah !! Well at least I’ll have negative split at the end !!’ And while Laura is congratulating me on running 35 mins non stop I’m remembering when that was a big deal, and hoping I was going to come in under 1hr 35 mins 🤣. Barely staggered over the 11k mark, but over it I got, so it counts. Hurrah ! 1hr 27mins 45secs. Average split 7.59, fastest 7.15, slowest 8.30 (that was the 7th k uphill !). Time for the sofa.

Congratulations. Laura arrived just at the right time by the sounds of it 👍😊It's great to look back and remember how far we've come since we started the running journey.

Hope you've had a restful afternoon and a few treats as a reward 😉

I’m feeling a bit over stimulated to be honest ! As a treat I made cappuccino meringue to a nigella recipe and it’s pure sugar !! 🤪

Hey Juliet. Congratulations on your super run! You're flying :)

I had a similar run today - not quite as far as you, as I've yet to hit 10k, but I felt great and carried on further than I've run before. Great feeling isn't it?

Have a well deserved restful evening, and a wonderful week ahead 😍

Congratulations! 🙌👏👌 That was an amazing report. Great that you got over that hill (literally and metaphorically). And how serendipitous of Laura to be lurking ready to support you at just the right spot. I hope you did your stretches before collapsing onto the sofa.😉

Yeah I’m not so great at stretching but I did walk an extra 1.5 k home at the end and stretched a bit when I had to wait at the traffic lights ! I know I should be more serious about it.....
