My June Quest first week

June Quest Week 1 . Three runs per week. Improving my overall stance from my “Dad” running.

I ran 3 times to Stepping Stones in the NHS C25Kplus podcast series. Where Laura carries on with the familiar 5 minute walk warmup, 30ish of running ,varying your pace and concentrating on stance and light feet, then cool down walk. Being generous of frame and more mature, that took me about four and a half Km in total. From the map you see I started on the right, walked uphill to Atlantic Way, then JSR’d to the left. This route has lasted me since about week four. In those days, I brisk walked up, to the end of Golf links road, then left towards the sea, to the halfway point on the Laura track, then back. Getting closer to the cricket ground before I turned. Reaching the cricket ground eventually was a milestone for me. Next step, W7, was to make it a circular route, out along Atlantic Way turning left down a street to join Golf links rd. and circle back. Finishing on the corner of an estate and walking back up the hill.

Then it became turn down the next street, add a bit more distance in the same time. Until eventually the Co-op in sight of the sea, became halfway. Another milestone. I only added the pointy bit on my last run of three, as by then I was getting to the Co-op, halfway, too soon.

I have been playing with the free version of Strava and see that I average almost a ten minute Km. since it’s not long since a one minute run almost creased me, I am reasonably happy with that.

My park run time though, few weeks back, was 46’48”. Just a bit less.

I have been starting/stopping Strava when I start/stop Laura.

These times include my walks each end.

Next week I’ll try to remember to start Strava when Laura says “Run to the beat”.

Week one - run three times ✔️

- Improve my stance, breathing, footfall. I think so. ✔️

Bring on week 2 with more of the same, only better!

The Stepping Stones podcasts are ace and will bring your running on no end 😃💪👍🏃‍♂️

I still do them as they crop up on my shuffle

Shuffle? Is this on the app or podcast? Saves deciding which one to do? Do what is selected for you? Sounds like a plan, onceI have tried each of the three for a period.

I wasn’t intending to be ‘brought on’, My motivation, I thought, was a maintenance regime, rather than continued improvement. It is good to find I am a little quicker or go further though.

Its the Couch to 5k+ Stepping Stones podcasts which are on my mp3 player. I love these podcasts. I used them to bring my running on as I found running easier the more I used them. You get fitter as you work your way through them. They are variable speeds - slow running too - which builds legs!

Finding running easier as you use the NHS C25KPLUS Stepping Stones podcast sounds a good reason to use it, to me.

Enjoy your easier running Miss W.

Well done Hatman

I find using Strava to record the runs is brilliant for keeping motivated too.. :) x

That is largely why my ‘maintenance’ idea is losing to progressing just a little bit. Now I will have to work out more than just how far I ran in what time? Pace and splits is this weeks homework. Thanks for taking the time. Enjoy your well motivated runs.

Well done. Sounds like you are progressing despite not trying to : )
