10K, oh sorry 11K

Hiya,

A beautiful morning, 10°C with a little bit of sun, perfect weather for running. Long (thin) running thight with a long sleeved (thin) shirt and my hydration vest on and out the door I went. Oh I also did put on my running shoes and did some dynamic stretches.

The plan was to do a calm 10K and to try out a combination of my 2 existing routes for the first time.

Onto the road through the indutry area, past a flower picking field, past the big cemetary and back in the direction of my home. Past my home and through the local park into a little path between field and tiny forests, onto the busy traffic road and back in-out-in the park.

The route was a perfect 10K, great to know so I don't have to do my routes twice in future. But I decided to do a little extra loop to reach 11K.

This because I have the unwise idea to do another 13K or maybe even 14K next weekend and go for my first ten miler the weekend after.

I decided I would stop increasing at ten miles and skip back to 10K's for the future with the option of doing another ten miler once in a blue moon. Don't think it would be wise to go for a HM. Don't think my body would be able to handle it and I just don't have it in me to work with plans and preparations and such.

10K every weekend sounds good enough for lil ol' me 😜

Pic of some Nile Geese rummaging around in the park.

Cheers, Evy

Well done on that 11k Evy

I'm glad you found a combination route,

I have that problem also if I run from home ! And don't particularly want to go around the same route 2 or 3 times 😐

Me and my typo's 😔...

Yeah last time I did a 10K at home, I used my 5K route and did it twice with the second time in the other direction. Don't reach a full 10K then, so have to chip in some more triple lanes. But this is better, this route reaches 10K on the meter 😁

Well done on your 11 km , lovely pic of geese, too dark when I was out to get pics and dull and drizzly when daylight in. Yes 10 km seems good especially with your health , 😊👍

Thanks 😁

What a lovely run and the geese look great, 11k such a long way, when i’ve run 10k it never occurred to me to run another 1k but you are doing so well

in reply toSueAppleRun

Thanks ☺. Once I have reached 10 miles, I will keep it to 10K without an extra kilometer. But now it is more or less a bit of preparation for the 10 miles.

Ah fabulous Evy! That’s a great run and I’m glad you remembered to put your running shoes on. Your plan/not a plan sounds just right to get to 10 miles. I misread your post and thought they were Nike Geese - I must have sportswear on the brain. And what a lovely photo it is. 😊😊😊

in reply toFrenc

Nike geese 😂 now how would they look! We also have Canadian geese in the park, but today only the Nile ones were out playing.

Beautiful, both run and pics! And love geese, I’d like one in our garden, but so far only chicken mingle on our lawn.

These were rather shy though. The Canadian ones are shy too, but less so. These ran the moment I took 1 step closer to take a picture...

I think I've decided much the same...I did a 10mile in June and have been working back up towards it again, but that's going to be my limit...no half marathon for me.

in reply toMormor1

I'd love to do a HM or even a full marathon. But I don't think I am made for it. So much preparation and training. And I run for fun, really training would feel like a chore and take my joy out of it. Plus I am sure my body would not be happy either. 10K /90 mins is a nice distance too...

Yep,totally agree...I definitely started too late and fear getting injuries that end my running enjoyment.
