Hello, have been missing for a while with health problems and the ever changing weather. So for the last few weeks I have been working up to 5k again. This week two 5ks at 37.02 and 37.45 different routes. Today was a short run pic attached. The north south part of the run is an elevation gain of 35 meters which did puff me out. I am concerned my heart rate which seems to be an average of 145 for the run but peaked on the hill at 173. Well I am 74 so 220 minus 74 is 146 you get the picture. Anyway looking forward to the Park runs coming back and being able to turn in a time sub 35 for a 5k, 10ks are not on the list for the moment.

Brilliant run, quite a tidy time to! I'm always very interested in what over 65s can do (being one myself), and such achievements spur me on. So thank you and I've no doubt we'll be reading about a sub 35 min 5k from you soon.Best wishes ☺️

Thank you, I managed a 33 last year. From my point of view it Hill training that helps get the head straight for the 5ks. So good luck to you on your running.

Welcome back hamit, so good to hear from you! I was only looking at a list of ‘followers’ and ‘followed’ the other day and wondered how you were getting on! It sounds like you’re really getting on well - I’m coming back to 5km after a break with a dodgy hip but am still nowhere near your time! Am averaging a 10 minute Km - although I’ve never been better than 9.5 minute kms! Glad to hear you’re back out there - happy running!

Thanks Oldgirlruns, I am just out of a bad situation because of my prescription was change for a good reason but my body reacted badly to the change. So with that and the weather I was on the IC for a while. Trying to get back with some Hill training which seems to be doing the trick. So nice to hear from you again.

Welcome back hamit. I was scared stiff when I wore my Garmin for the first time and an alert came on when I reached 220-age HR. The overwhelming response on here was to ignore it and just listen to your body. I switched off the alert and am still alive (63). Apparently, if you are fitter, the normal formula doesn’t apply.
