Hello Everyone. Today is parkrun day, a free 5K event which takes place every Saturday morning all around the world. It is for everyone, slow, fast, able, disabled, big, small and everyone in between. Oh and don't forget about the super Mum's and Dad's who push their babies in buggies. You can walk, jog, run, run/walk, it's not a race, just a run in the park and loads of us here on Bridge to 10K do it religiously every Saturday morning.
Some of us may not be able to do a parkrun at the moment so until parkrun returns fully for everyone some of us will continue to take part on our own in a Virtual parkrun every Saturday morning called a (not)parkrun. Or if you are away on Holidays, prefer to run on your own, or do not have a parkrun close by you a (not)parkrun is perfect, please feel free to join in. Please post a little run report after your parkrun or (not)parkrun and let everyone know how you got on. The little run report can be done over a post parkrun coffee and treat/cake. (parkrun is all about the after run coffee and cake, and meeting friends old and new).
If you are a new graduate and would like to start, all you have to do is run, walk or jog at a parkrun or a 5K run/jog/walk (not)parkrun anytime today or tomorrow and write a little run report under this post. It's like a little community and it is good fun, sets you up nicely for the weekend. If you want to you can register on the parkrun website and you can log your 5K (not)parkrun. In fact you can log any 5K done during the week as a (not)parkrun.
For anyone whom has not done a real parkrun yet and if it is available to you, give it a try. It is the most wonderful community event. Saturday mornings will never be the same again.
Looking forward to hearing from all of you who ran in real proper parkruns and (not)parkruns. Happy running and have a lovely weekend.

I ran this morning at my local parkrun with my Cocker Spaniel Ruby. We had my Sister with her family and my Mum and Dad up yesterday evening for dinner and a few drinks. Wine and beer is not good pre-run hydration, plus I had a very busy week and I felt tired. So I took it nice and easy today, ran, jogged and had a couple of walking breaks. It was a beautiful morning and I finished my parkrun in a time of 33:56. Happy running everyone.
Missed parkrun this morning had a long run to do started a 10 mile run ended up doing a half marathon. Well done everyone who did a parkrun or any run this morning ๐
Good afternoon everyone! Well what can I say? A message popped into my inbox the other day from an absolute HU legend, ย ย ย GTFC . Was I planning on doing SB this weekend, as he and ย ย ย Tasha99 were making the trip? ๐๐
No need to ask me twice! Sadly Jenny and baby were unable to come along, but I was there waiting by the PR sign nice and early, and it didnโt take long to spot each other! The weather was thankfully kind (SB can have its moments!) and we all started together towards the back.
Tasha soon ran on and did a great time, but GTFC and I basically chatted for the full 5k!
So much fun, followed by coffee after. I had to dash to an emergency nail appointment (canโt go on hols with flaky gels!) but we had time for a good old debrief and chat in the cafe.
Good afternoon Damien and other parkrunners, this morning I ran my 128th parkrun at the parkrun I ran my very first one, Dunfermline, in a time of 32:20 with a +60% age grade of 62.11% which I am very happy with, my first parkrun at Dunfermline in July 2019 I had a 53.55% age grade in a time of 34.16, the weather this morning was very pleasant with a light westerly wind, the temperature was 8C.
Thanks Damien, next week I am a marshall at Palacerigg Country parkrun, I'll need to wrap up as the weather for all next week in the UK and Ireland is to be very cold with some snow and night frost.
Although my average times have been a little slower over the last few months, no sub 31 minute time since August 2022 my age grading has been slowly increasing, it's now been several months since I got a sub 60% age grading.
Good afternoon everyone! Home at Market Rasen for my 119th parkrun today. The course is a 1k loop followed by 2 x 2k loops of the racecourse. I usually get overtaken by the first finishers as I am about a quarter of the way round the first long loop, but today the first guy zoomed past me as I was on the first loop turning to cross the course ๐ณ Never happened before! So his first km was about the same time as my first 400m. He finished in 14.57 nearly 1.5 mins faster than the 2nd person. I meanwhile plodded in in 34.38, 30 seconds slower than last time, but I didnโt have any running club friends to chase this week ๐
Hello everyone, it was another crack sparrow departure today, heading east into a glorious sunrise to Littlehampton Prom parkrun.
At only about 6ยฐC, I was a little chilly in my tourist T-shirt, until I got running. It is a 2 lap course and I was lapped by the leader just before the end of my first lap. I was running and chatting with a local runner for at least 3k which kept a good pace for a while. But I let her run on as I suspected I was holding her back a bit.
A lovely course with lots of marshals , including a certain Paul Sinton-Hewitt at the 2nd turning cone. I didnโt recognise him while running but was glad I thanked him as I ran around the cone. I saw someone I thought looked like him in the parkrun cafe and it was later confirmed by ย UpTheStanley who had been chatting to the ED while waiting for me.
My result was a pleasing 33:38 with 63.08% age grade score, while UTS was 26:17 and 69.82%. I think we may have to return and see if we can improve further.
Our recommended first choice of breakfast location at an American Diner was thwarted as it was fully booked so I made up for it by having an American pancake stack with strawberries, bacon and maple syrup at the Parkrunโs nominated Beach Cafe. Delicious. ๐
It was my 199th parkrun today but as UTS is going to be RD next week, Iโve decided to volunteer for him so that we can run together for my 200th the following week.
Ah brilliant running from both of you. Sounds like it was a lovely parkrun morning and the breakfast sounds super yummy. ๐ Looking forward to hearing all about your 200th parkrun. Iโm only 3 or 4 ahead of you.
Congratulations to you Dexy5 on your run today and achieving a 63,08% age grading, wow, seeing the main man who started parkrun Paul Swinton Hewitt must have been amazing, he wasn't running but being a marshall is very important too, also congratulations to UpTheStanley .
Donโt wish your time away Sandie , I would love to be 4 years younger, but I admit it does help to see the age grade doing well as the time gets slower.
Yes Garmin said it was 4ยฐ and the car said 7ยฐ, so it was somewhere in between, thankfully just a light breeze. I was in my tourist shirt, leggings and gloves. ๐ UTS was in shorts of course.
Really enjoyed today, a bit slower than last week but it felt a comfortable pace all the way. Unfortunately going to miss out next week but already thinking of the week after. Starting to think about a bit of tourism next year ...
Back at Portsmouth Lakeside today after a 2 week gap for a flat tyre and a weekend away. Running has been going pretty well recently (shh - don't jinx it!) and the conditions were good, so I thought I would push it a bit in pursuit of that elusive sub-30.
I had to build in a bit of slack as our course usually comes in around 5.06km according to my watch. However at the turnaround I had a few seconds in hand and a sprint finish assisted me to a Garmin time of 29.50. A nail-biting wait was rewarded by an official time of 29.58 - whew! A bonus was also being in the top half of the field - 166 out of 357!
No run for me but I did watch the 1078 runners at Southampton today, then I was one of 5 token sorters afterwards at a local pub. Lots of coffee and banter and finally finished at 11:30am. Most enjoyable!
So lovely how you can still be part of the PR gang even if youโre not running isnโt it Mudita11 ? Tell that knee of yours youโd rather be running and not to take too long healing though! ๐
